Default Would You Consider WWEs Roster Strong Or Weak Overall?

Overall, I think WWEs roster is really strong. My thoughts on the WWE Superstars:

    RAW:

Bret Hart - If Bret is used correctly, He could really be a big asset to the wrestlers on Raw (Not just Hart Dynasty) as he can share the wisdoms of live TV, wrestling, the fans and how to further yourself as a wrestler. Bret has been used apalling lately and considering WWE could use him in a much better role, his tenure in WWE has failed.
Chris Jericho - One of the major players when it comes to WWE RAW main eventers. It's unfortunate that Jericho could be leaving WWE soon & it's a major dissapointment that he's been dropped from the NOC PPV (In a way, it could be a good thing that means Jerichos resigned so they need a way to drop the storyline so he can return as a pissed off heel looking for gold. I hope Jericho remains with the company..
Daniel Bryan - Only good things can happen in the future for Daniel Bryan, I hoped. It's apparent that this stint in WWE is almost meaningless (Except for a potential US title reign) because I honestly don't see him joining the gathering in the main event scene. When it comes to his look and his appearance, He generally looks more like an indy wrestler than a WWE wrestler but his skills are far better than a normal WWE wrestler.
Darren Young - I actually had several ideas regarding his future like a possible stint in the SES. Those have gone down the drains, & I'm bored with him...
David Hart Smith - I was discussing this with several friends lately and they all agreed that this guy is boring. I really want him to suddenly gain a personality and some charisma. Surely, He isn't this boring in real-life and it may be that he is shy or he isn't being given enough chances to show off his promo ability.
David Otunga - This guy bores me. Except for his somewhat superior promos when compared to the rest of Nexus, He shows no superiority when compared with the rest of the Nexus wrestling in the ring. This guy can't wrestle.
Edge - I hope he gets a title shot soon as I truly think he deserves a shot at a title. Whether it be with Daniel Bryan once he wins the belt (I am certain he will) or if he travels to SD and challenges Taker, I truly want him back in the main event scene.
Evan Bourne - His recent opportunity at being in the main event failed so badly that I can't see him getting another chance. Since then, he's been relegated to the Superstar matches against Zack Ryder. He is in the same category as Daniel Bryan.
Ezekiel Jackson - Wasn't this guy on Smackdown? Meh. I had the perfect solution to the Taker saga. Zeke could have returned and revealed that he was the man who attacked Undertaker and placed him in a vegitative state.
Goldust - He's another guy that can further peoples talent. Nothing more.
The Great Khali - Useless, Untalented and absolutely rubbish.
Heath Slater - I hope WWE use him correctly. He could have big potential as a star in WWE..
Jey Uso - The Usos could be a really talented team but WWE have failed to use them correctly recently.
Jimmy Uso - Same as Jey.
John Cena - Cena is WWEs poster-boy and it won't change soon. Easily one of WWEs best superstars (Note how I said Superstars, not wrestler).
John Morrison - I want a heel turn. He could be good as a heel.
Justin Gabriel - My 2nd favourite member of the Nexus. He showed how awesome he is in his match against Cena on Raw.
Mark Henry - I dislike him. He's only produced a handfull of good matches in the past 10 years.
Michael Tarver - The second worst Nexus member. His wrestling is ok but his promo skills could need abig of help.
The Miz - THE MIZ IS AWESOME! My favourite WWE wrestler. He has it all - Wrestling skills, promos, charisma and talent. He truly is a great all-round talent. I hope WWE elevates him to the main event scene (It will be a matter of weeks) and then keep him there and actually make his title reign worth something (Unlike Swagger and Sheamus).
Primo - To be fair, WWE could do so much more with him.
R-Truth - I hate his gimmick. He needs to change gimmick really quickly.
Randy Orton - I love his gimmick. His ability in the ring is exactly the same as his promo and his gimmick - Fantastic.
Santino Marella - This guy is good in his comedy gimmick. He shouldn't be anything else.
Sheamus - One of my favourite wrestlers and I hope WWE can make him look like a major player. He may be the WWE Champ, But on RAW recently he has only had one segment (He hasn't wrestled in a few weeks). He should be constantly used on the show and in matches.
Ted Dibiase - DiBiase could be used so much better. It would be wrong for him not to have the millionaire gimmick, but he needs to be pushed.
Tyson Kidd - The talent of the Hart Dynasty imho.
Wade Barrett - It's clear that he is improving and with WWE pushing him, Only good things can happen.
William Regal - I want WWE to give him a decent US title reign.
Yoshi Tatsu - He could be used so much better. I want him to get a decent push (Perhaps move him to Smackdown). He does a superb job on Superstars.
Zack Ryder - Same as Yoshi. He needs a push badly. The recent "RYDER SUCKS" storyline has been utter piffle.

    Smackdown:

Alberto Del Rio - A true star and one of WWEs most promising young stars. I see big things from him in the future and hope he doesn't get one big run then is reduced to Superstars matches. His recent angle with Rey & Christian has been great and I can't wait for their fight.
Big Show - It's apparent that he is the new Andre The Giant. I like it.
Chavo Guerrero - He got a massive face pop on Superstars recently which shows he could be so much better. However, He is in the role he is and I don't see that changing for a long time.
Chris Masters - I love this guy. Perfect wrestling skills and his battles on Superstars (Against McIntyre, Swagger) have been fantastic. He produced quality matches EVERY week.
Christian - I'm looking forward to his match against Alberto. He is a solid wrestler and Smackdown needs him.
CM Punk - I want another title reign. I'm glad he has split from SES and now is a single wrestler. I doubt he will be a face ever again. I love his heel role as someone better than you.
Cody Rhodes - A perfect talent. He has a fantastic gimmick, perfect wrestling ability and amazing promo skills. I really like him - He is the future.
Curt Hawkins - The next best tag team. Seriously.
Dolph Ziggler - I am so glad he is the IC champ. He deserves the belt and I'm so glad he now has it. He is fantastic in the ring generally but I do wish he would stop the stupid gimmick moves (Like his head bashing off the steps).
Drew McIntyre - Love his chosen gimmick and think he should continue it. Shame he isn't doing much (Except for dominating a few wrestlers on SD) and I want a world title run from him.
Jack Swagger - A real shame that he isn't in the main event scene. I predict big things for him in the future and only hope he can get another title reign.
Kane - I love his recent storyline with Taker. I genuinely think he is doing a massively good job in his promos and his wrestling contests. It's a shame that alot of people aren't interested but I really think this is his best feud in ages and I honestly think he can produce more good matches.
Kofi Kingston - He is better as a heel. I would prefer him as a pissed off heel.
Luke Gallows - I have no idea where he goes from here.
Matt Hardy - I'm not interested at all. He can leave WWE & I wouldn't care.
MVP - I want a heel turn from MVP to be honest. He sucks as a face and I want another title reign from him. He was fantastic in 2006/2007 and I wish him to relive those years.
Rey Mysterio - I think it's quite obvious that he is past his prime now.
The Undertaker - He hasn't quite done much for ages so I can't really judge him from recent events. From what I saw from him around the WrestleMania time, it appeared as though the wrong man retired. I hope he can pull off a good match against Punk on SD & Kane at the NOC PPV.
Vance Archer - Involved in a fantastic team. That's all I want from him.

    Your Thoughts.

Overall I'd say the roster is strong. The issue is with how some of their talent is being used and some of the wrong guys being pushed or the right guys not being pushed correctly etc.

    RAW

    Main Eventers

Jericho, Edge, Sheamus and Orton are the complete package in the main event scene. Sheamus still has room to improve of course but he'll only do that going up against top quality. They need to have him feud with someone like Edge after NOC. A different opponent from the usual bigger guys like Cena etc. I feel Sheamus would bEnefit greatly from it.

HHH was The Game a few years back he had it all but his best in ring days are likely behind him. Can still easily put on a few good matches a year though and is someone the younger up and coming guys could learn from.

John Cena gets credit where it is due. On the mic he can be funny and knows how to work a crowd. He's so stale and frustrating in the ring though they need to sort some kind of angle where he can go against a faster paced opponent in a non title feud and maybe freshen it up a bit.

Wade Barrett is still learning obviously but he's been impressive and is far and away the best thing about Nexus along with Gabriel. I'm expecting big things from him in the future and he has that look WWE seem to like in way of his size and physique.

    Mid Card

Evan Bourne, John Morrison and Daniel Bryan can and really should be amongst the most exciting top line stars in the company over the coming years. Perhaps lacking the finely tuned mic skills of your Jerichos and Rocks of the past but they have that electrifying side to their in ring style whilst being well versed in the ring technically. Bourne and Morrison both seem to have had their legs cut from under them after seeming like they'd get pushed in the past but hopefully that won't always be the case. Expect to see at least one of these three guys headlining the midcard and stealing the show over the next year or so before hopefully progressing upwards further.

Justin Gabriel along with Wade has been very impressive and should have a bright future ahead of him. A big star in South Africa apparently and a highly talented one at that. I expect him to be in amongst the 3 mentioned above in the coming months.

The Miz has undoubted quality on the mic but his in ring style is average at best. He's going to be the next one to break into the main event, it's almost a given but it's not a good move. They need to have him in a series of matches against those mentioned above in this section. Let him build his in ring reputation with the fans and IF he achieves it then see about a push.

Ted Dibiase has potential but since the Legacy split and once they gave him his millionaire gimmick that seems to have been it for a push of late. Currently a wasted talent. The addition of Maryse strengthens his gimmick and he can pull it off in the ring, they really should use him more competitively.

R-Truth has become little more than an annoyance over the last few months. A scissors kick and a spinning back elbow should be in amongst a move set not your finishers. There's potential for a good talent but he's been stuck with potential for the decade. Could well be shit or bust in the next couple of years for him.

Vladimir Kozlov is a big man that seems capable of performing strongly. I'm bored of his comedy routine with Santino though. They've already ruined Santino as a serious competitor so I sincerely hope they don't do the same with this guy.

The Hart Dynasty Tyson Kidd has that exciting high flying style and DH Smith complements that with his grounded stand up game. So long as WWE keep them as a tag team, build the division up and use them well they can achieve level up with E&C, The Hardys and Dudley Boyz potentially.

The Usos Thus far not at the same potential standard as the Hart Dynasty and seem a bit raw but with more experience and decent booking should only serve to strengthen the tag division.

    Divas

Melina and Gail Kim are the top women in the company currently. I'd like the two to feud. Gail needs to be used correctly though as she just gets buried and hardly used which sucks.

Eve Torres reminds me of Trish in that she's very green when she first came in but seems really keen to make a go of it and is noticeably improving. Stick with her and she can become a decent female competitor.

I'll comment on whom I rate and why on Smackdown later.

Greatly done when you say strong or weak usually theres a comparison let's already eliminate anything not WWE lets look which thread were in . That said in comparison to 2009 roster or are you going back to say the 1998 roster or further back .

I think WWE pushes alot of green talent that fans dont buy into right away , as with anything new . They use to have to train for 3 years before WWE would hire them now its 6 months . So back to comparison a few years ago the experience was with that roster however with any company money which is obviously the most important who sells tickets and draws the crowd ?

I'd say the roster is strong, it's just that booking is in a weird place right now.

WWE have a strong roster, they just have to learn how to use it properly. People like Morrison and Bourne can easily be main eventers, and so can Danielson. What WWE need is a good tag team division, and some good storyline writers!

Smackdown is a prime example of my earlier comment about the wrong people being in the wrong place. Not all but some. Christian not being a main eventer is the obvious one and not least the brand being very light on decent main eventers currently.

    SMACKDOWN

    Main Eventers

CM Punk has the of a saviour which is ironic as he really is Smackdowns saving grace as of late. Like Jericho, Orton and Edge on Raw, Punk has it all really, a solid and impressive ability in the ring more than credible mic skills and he's entertaining with it. One of the most entertaining heels since Jericho first arrived in the company. Once the Kane and Taker feud is done they have to put the strap on him surely?

Kane seemingly demoted to jobber status his recent resurgence with the Undertaker coma storyline has elevated him to as close to his peak as he's going to get. He's been really impressive with his promos of late and there's a sense that he's relishing being rewarded for putting up with being overlooked for so long. He has a lot of energy and ferocity for a big man and carries his persona off well.

The Undertaker is one of my all time favourites, but the time to retire is practically here. Survivor Series to complete the twenty years should be his time retire. So many injuries in recent years have limited him to more of a cameo wrestler living off his former glory days. He should still be good for the odd match but sticking around too much longer could sour his great legacy.

Rey Mysterio is Smackdowns equivalent of R-Truth in the annoyance stakes. He's become very laboured in the ring and whilst he's not quite a spot monkey his gimmick is one purely to pander to the audience and sell merchandise. If there was an award for worst performer of the year he would get my vote. Numerous botches yet repeatedly being pushed. Highly frustrating and should start being used to put over the younger guys now instead of himself.

Big Show is an interesting one. I don't dislike the Big Show. I don't particularly like him either. Therein lies the problem. I'm not the only one of this mindset. It doesn't help WWE seeming intent on making him act like the big dumb friendly giant the whole time. The knockout punch? Over the Showstopper? Really? You know your brand is struggling when Big Show is your top three main event stars.

    Mid Card

Christian admittedly got a lengthy one with the ECW title but that was at a time when it was a distinctly third rate belt. As far as pure talent and charisma goes Christian is one of the best pros around. For whatever reason though he seems stuck in the mid card and not getting a look in on recent PPVs. His time at the top in WWE has to come soon surely?

Drew McIntyre isn't particularly bad at all. He's not outstanding either. His gimmick and slower pacing of even his entrance music really suit that style of heel that he plays well but he just needs to get a bit more of a character to his promos to stop himself being boring. Kinda on the edge at the moment. Vicious and violent heel gimmick is working well for him though and if he does brush up the mic skills within a year or so I can see WWE using him in the main event fold.

Jack Swagger should be a main eventer first though. WWE did well with moving him to Smackdown as he really suits that shows style more. I really don't understand the way they've seemingly been really half arsed with pushing the guy though. He clearly has talent and plays the cocky heel gimmick well. You can't turn a guy from jobber to world champion overnight and then book him to still be a jobber even with the strap and expect to get him over as a convincing main eventer. I really hope they elevate him back up properly by the Summer 2011 after giving him some strong mid card feuds to get him over.

Alberto Del Rio could be just the man to do that with. As Ive stated before, once he's had time to settle in and he himself be put over after an impressive mid card feud, have him go up against Swagger as a Mexican wrestling champion vs an American wrestling champion. Their styles would complement each other well and if booked correctly could be the mid card show stealers that often make for the hidden gems of tomorrow. Technically sound and great on the mic he seems like he could and should go far.

Cody Rhodes finally has a gimmick with his "Dashing" moniker. I think that may be what was holding him back previously, a technically sound but lacking in character athlete. Get him in the Intercontinental title hunt and see how he shapes up. Cross Rhodes is a pretty great looking finisher and he could be a mid card star for years to come.

MVP and Matt Hardy have both been around a fair while now and have both been perennially stranded in the mid card. Whilst there is nothing particularly bad about them there's really nothing that sets them above the pack. MVP is using a lame crowd pleasing "Ballin" signature move and Matt Hardy was in his solo prime with the V1 stuff but they effectively screwed him (and the actual cruiserweight talents)by making him compete in the Cruiserweight division.

Kofi Kingston is a spot monkey by and large. Whilst the SOS looks great it's not an especially difficult move to execute and requires a big assist from the other competitor. Don't get me wrong I generally enjoy most of Kofis matches I just don't really see him going very high above the upper mid card level in WWE.

Dolph Ziggler Has arguably been the surprise package of 2010 thus far. Solid wrestling and impressing. Has that great finisher combination of an impact move and a submission. Is the current IC title holder and deservedly so. I'd like to see them let him win clean once in a while though.

Archer & Hawkins, Cryme Tyme, Gallows and Mercury and The Dudebusters 4 capable tag teams, 3 of which fit the same grounded powerhouse/smaller high flying guy combination as the current tag title holders The Hart Dynasty. Shad and JTG just aren't being used and there doesn't seem to be much interest in them as singles competitors. I'd put them back together and let Smackdown be a nucleus for the tag division. Perhaps moving Gallows and Mercury to Raw so there's 3 teams on each. Let them focus on being tag teams, get storyline and rivalries going and build the tag division up to an exciting level.

    Divas

Beth Pheonix is really the only diva of note on Smackdown whom has credible wrestling talent. Once they unify the belts they should move her to Raw and have the womens title only on that show. The other women on Smackdown are more good as valets anyway.

Layla potentially has a future if they develop her in ring ability rather than focussing on the terrible LayCool shite.

I know they've intentionally thinned it out due to a move to SyFy or something but Smackdown is too full of guys they're holding in the midcard and those whom they aren't using very well.

Un-questionably WWE has the talent who shine in various areas to varying levels that they could make themselves a superb force again that so many enjoy watching.

Unfourtunately due to a mixture of poor booking, bad storylines, the pg rating and general bewilderment that seems to be going on they don't appear to realise the talent they have at their disposal and as such we're getting a product that often feels like it's not meant for you to enjoy (those of us past our teens who have been watching wrestling for years).
