I want to see another cool exorcism flick, I really do. I just really doubt anything will ever come close to The Exorcist. Maybe it was because Reagan was a young girl or because the effects were outstanding, but I would never put my money on a new studio film. With that said, I still sit in anticipation of every single exorcism-inspired film in hopes that it'll give me a fraction of fright that William Friedkin's 1973 classic did. On January 28th Warner Bros. will release The Rite, Mikael Hafstrom's "true story" spin on the subgenre that stars Anthony Hopkins, Colin O'Donoghue, Alice Braga, and Ciaran Hinds. The film follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (O'Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.
