JESSICA Simpson has become "close pals" with Maroon 5 star Adam Levine, 26, sparking gossip that the pair are dating.

The singer, 25, who is divorcing husband Nick Lachey, 32, was partying at the Chateau Marmont hotel in LA and bumped into Adam, who has been linked with tennis ace Maria Sharapova, 18.

An onlooker said: "They looked sweet and happy together – Jessica couldn’t stop smiling. There was definitely chemistry there. They talked for hours."
