Chelsea Supporters’ Group Demanding Rafael Benitez Apology

It has been reported that the Chelsea Supporters’ Group has called for an apology from manager Rafael Benitez stemming back from his days as Liverpool boss.

The 52 year old who took over as caretaker at Stamford Bridge after Roberto Di Matteo was sacked last week, stated that he would never manager Chelsea while criticizing Blues fans during his stint at Anfield in the mid-2000s.


Chairman of the Chelsea Supporters’ Group, Trizia Fiorellino, feels that Benitez needs to at least acknowledge his words to try and mend the rift that has already been made between he and the fans.

Fiorellino said : “I think (an apology) would help for some fans. Even an acceptance of what was said would be a start,”.

“He’s said he was trying to defend his club at the time but (then Chelsea boss Jose) Mourinho was the master of that and I don’t think he ever directly ridiculed supporters of another club.

“It’s quite a thing to try to undo but an acceptance could definitely bring some people back on board. I do think he’s a tough sell, though.”

I do understand though, Di Matteo while yes flukey as fuck still won you 2 championships. 1 being the Champions League, as well as Rafa saying he would never join Chelsea would probably be an insult to Liverpool and Chelsea fans
