    Default United 'to sell Rooney'

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is to sell Wayne Rooney in the summer, according to the News of the World.

The paper claims that Rooney and Ferguson's relationship, already rocky following the striker's contract negotiations last autumn, has reached an all-time low in recent weeks - despite the fact that the 25-year-old has finally rediscovered his scoring touch.

The paper's source claims that, "relations between Rooney and Ferguson are so strained that it is affecting other players," adding that, "Sir Alex is not pleased with the way Rooney has been playing... Rooney has been moaning about the squad again but Sir Alex has told him he should look at himself before criticising others."

With United's other stars - particularly striker Javier Hernandez - spearheading the club's efforts in this campaign, the way is apparently clear for the Red Devils to cash in on a player that Ferguson has simply had enough of dealing with. Rooney is expected to fetch a fee to the tune of around £60-80 million.

Barcelona are planning a £40 million summer bid for Tottenham star Gareth Bale, according to The People.

And Spurs boss Harry Redknapp believes the only way he can persuade the 21-year-old winger to stay is by securing a Champions League spot for next season.

The paper claims that Barca's scouts have been tracking the Welshman closely ever since he came to prominence with his extraordinary Champions League hat-trick against Internazionale at the San Siro last year. They have apparently come to the conclusion that Bale is "the complete player", and will either offer a straight cash deal or cash plus forward Bojan Krkic.

Following Friday's news that Chelsea are set to end Kaka's troubled spell at Real Madrid, the Sunday Mirror reports that Manchester City will compete with the Blues for the Brazilian's signature.

Chelsea believe they are still favourites, however, on the basis that Kaka would jump at the chance to link up with Carlo Ancelotti, his former boss at AC Milan. That's always assuming that Ancelotti is still in post when the transfer window re-opens, of course.

Kenny Dalglish's return to the dugout at Anfield has already been successful enough to land the 60-year-old a permanent job offer, according to the Sunday Express.

The Reds have apparently offered Dalglish a two-year deal and a chestload of transfer cash to stay on as Liverpool manager.

Aston Villa are to offload centre-back Richard Dunne for his role in Villa's "booze-filled fracas" during a two-day team bonding exercise at a spa hotel in Leicestershire, according to the News of the World, while the same paper claims that Manchester United are to let Danny Welbeck stay on at Sunderland for another season.

And finally, Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has likened his players to a pack of stray dogs, as opposed to the thoroughbreds that dominate most Premier League sides.

"We don't deal at Crufts," he says in the Mail on Sunday. "We deal with Battersea Dogs Home. We pick up strays and bring them back here."

It's the News Of The World so there likely is no actual source and they're just "reporting" what many of us already think anyway.

Rooney threw his toys out the pram earlier in the season saying eh wants to go in January. They said no and made him sign a new contract to look good.

Just like with Ronaldo though they did the exact same then the following summer he still went for a small fortune and it transpires it always the deal. Madrid effectively signed him the summer previous.

Rooney hasn't performed consistently all season, they can sell him for well over £50 million and with that sort of money United can sign a number of players to actually boost their squad to an effective quality.

They need to because currently they probably have 5 top quality players 1 is retiring, 1 is now very injury prone, one gets suspended a lot, one doesn't perform as he should and one seems to shine when he's the spotlight.

Hernandez aside the rest of their side and the players who'd replace those 5 simply aren't anywhere near the calibre they should be for a club that size.
