Default Drew Barrymore on Her Next Rom-Com with Adam Sandler

BEVERLY HILLS — For the first time in almost a decade, Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler are set to co-star together in a romantic comedy.

Barrymore told the Journal exclusively that she’s heading to Sun City, South Africa in six weeks to begin shooting the film, which follows a couple who, after surviving a dreadful first date, find themselves at a family resort with the kids from their respective previous marriages.

The 38-year-old actress opted out of producing the film, focusing instead on reuniting with Sandler. “It was all Adam and I talked about, him and I bring out the best in each other so we were very choosy,” Barrymore told the Journal.

Barrymore also teased that the film was similar in genre to “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer,” her two previous collaborations with Sandler. She also added, “this film is indicative of where we are in life right now,” referencing her new family who will accompany her to South Africa, including her seven-month-old daughter Olive.

“50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer” have each grossed more than $100 million worldwide.
