Default Was making Cena champion again a mistake?

Expect John Cena to make his first appearance as the new WWE World Heavyweight champion at RAW tonight, a creative decision that has seen a ton of responses, good and bad, from fans online.

According to sources online the decision was such a toxic one in such circles last night that a hot google search topic after the show was how to cancel WWE Network subscriptions.

Only time will tell what the fallout will be from this decision.

I've said before that it is a mistake to continually rely on a handful of established guys to hold the titles and not take any chances with the new, younger talent that still need that push. They put the title on Ziggler, and who knows where that would have gone had he not gotten injured. They put the title on Daniel Bryan, and he is injured now as well. It sucks, for sure, but that is no reason to avoid taking chances. I know the WWE is worried that a guy isn't over with the crowd to make a believable champion. Thing is, we saw what Bryan did after busting his ass for a long, long time. There are plenty of future stars who just need that push, and to get a guy over good he needs to hold the title. Putting the belt back on Cena just goes to show that the 'Superman' of the WWE is going to keep getting belts and they won't put the new guys over. At this point, beating Cena or Orton, perhaps Triple H, is the only push these young guys can get. The 'elite' is a very thin roster right now, and there are plenty willing to take the reigns... no pun intended.

I was thinking, maybe Vince McMahon wants Cena to get the record for winning most titles so Flair is not mentioned anymore lol

I could almost guarantee that thought has run through his mind at one time or another.

It has to be said that Cena will hand the title to either Brock Lesnar or Daniel Bryan without a second during the summer where as Cesaro, Wyatt or Reigns would have needed a longer title reign and could be pushed back by loosing the title..so Cena makes sense

It will piss a lot of people off but cena was the right choice. He is the only established face right now with only heels at top level. Nothing against reigns but he still needs to get more established as a single competitor. The other thing is the same people that whine about this will post hundreds of we hate cena post or threads which is more then anyone else so they still care if only to complain so Vince still is doing his job. The is the top face/heel right now so get over it.

Only if he puts over younger talent for the title, otherwise it's a huge mistake.

lol I would not call Lesnar young although after reading into this since MITB, it does make sense for Cena to be champ for now and I believe it was planned just after Bryan got hurt. Cena does make the WWE money and is a safe choice.

Also a good way to build Reigns up before Mania in 2015 where the plan as of now is for him to start his title reign.

I just hope Lesnar actually comes on thew show a lot more than The Rock did when he won the title. I would rather it stay on Cena who does go on the shows than have Lesnar have it who hardly shows up except for PPVs.
