Darby Allin was doing a media call—until an angry Uber driver threw him out of his car.
Allin was a guest on KFMA 102.1’s Podcast Broadcast while promoting AEW’s March 7 Collision taping in Tucson. Allin was taking part in the interview while he was traveling in an Uber car. However, the driver cut in while Allin was speaking, complaining about doing an interview as a passenger being rude.
“I’d hate to interrupt your ‘therapy session’ or whatever, but it’s kind of rude of you to be on speakerphone in someone’s Uber,” the driver said.
“Is it cool if I finish?” Allin replied.
“Umm… look man, I’ve been driving since 5 am. I’m tired, can you just put the phone up? It’s a little rude,” the driver said.
Darby Allin and the host asked to reconsider, noting how they were live on a national show. The Uber driver said he didn’t care, explaining how he didn’t make enough money to put up with it.
“I don’t care [what the reason is], can you just put the phone away?” the driver continued.
The conversation went on, with Allin and the hosts laughing about the driver getting so upset over the matter. The driver ultimately kicked Allin out of the car, screaming and punching his fist on the steering wheel. He sped off, leaving Allin in the middle of the highway to finish the interview.
Many fans questioned whether the call was staged or not. It could be, but either way, it’s still a fairly entertaining and creative way to generate interest in AEW programming.
