Ring of Honor will return this Friday to Dayton, Ohio with the following scheduled lineup:
*Bryan Danielson & Nigel McGuinness vs. ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima & Naomichi Marufuji
*ROH Tag Team champions Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Matt Sydal & Claudio Castagnoli - Best of Three Falls
*KENTA vs. Rocky Romero
*Roderick Strong & Davey Richards vs. Erick Stevens & Matt Cross
*BJ Whitmer vs. Brent Albright - No DQ
*Gauntlet Series featuring Delirious, Chris Hero, Adam Pearce, Pelle Primeau and Jimmy Rave
*Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Irish Airborne and more.
The promotion will then tape their second PPV on Saturday 6/23 in Chicago Ridge, Illinois featuring Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA (this will not be taped for the PPV but for the DVD release) plus The Briscoes defending the Tag straps against Kevin Steen & El Generico, and more. For ticket information, visit
www.ROHWrestling.com. The promotion is running a 25% off all merchandise including tickets sale this weekend.
The promotion is running a storyline where BJ Whitmer, one of the veterans of the locker room, is becoming increasingly frustrated with his inability to win the big match. Whitmer has morphed into something similar to what Tommy Dreamer was for the original ECW, so I'm curious to see where this is heading.
ROH will be losing their Long Island venue, Sportsplus in Lake Grove. Sportplus, a local sporting/arcade complex (which was a pretty cool place that even had its own indoor roller coaster) will be shuttering its doors on 6/30. ROH had been aware for some time that the venue had been struggling and are already making alternative plans to run a planned 7/27 date at another building in Long Island. One option that has been discussed is the Deer Park Community Center, which has houses a number of independent events over the last several years.
Bryan Danielson vs. Jay Lethal from a Full Impact Pro event has been added to the 6/9 Philadelphia DVD as an extra to make up for the Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness match not being part of the DVD. It's going to be held off for the DVD release of the second PPV as all PPV material needs to be first run.
Nigel McGuinness, Bryan Danielson, Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe, Rocky Romero and Davey Richards will all be touring for Pro Wrestling NOAH from 6/28 to 7/15. It will be Richards' first tour there. With ROH locking talents up to contracts and having a great relationship with FIP, NOAH and Dragon Gate, it allows for a situation where ROH talents can be working regularly every month and make a full-time living from the business. In some cases, some ROH talents might be working more often than some contracted TNA undercard performers.
