Default Post your thoughts on the KoTR tournament (spoilers)

Note: If you didn't see RAW or check WWE.com yet and don't want to have anything spoiled for you, do not read on.

First of all I'd like to say, I loved it... or at least what I say of it (I missed the first hour of RAW V_V). The Jericho/CM Punk match was great and so was the Finley/Regal match. Of course, I do wish they lasted longer. The Regal/CM Punk match was a dream match for me, and it didn't fail to live up to my expectations. The match was short though. If these two were given more time to work with they could definatley steal a PPV or two. The ending was great to me. Regal won cleanly by submission, but it didn't make Punk look bad at all since he had to face Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho earlier in the night. What did bother me though was the follow-up..... their was none. No standing ovation for Punk, no victory speech for Regal, nothing. Insted of giving us a classic RAW moment they simply moved on with the show. Another thing I didn't like about the tournament was the build up. They announced it last week. If they had announced it like a month ago they could've built it up more and it would've felt more special. This is just my opinion, feel free to post yours.

It was horrible. The only superstar I actually liked and had respect for was Y2J. Regal looked like he was drunk as always. Still hate the fact that WWE is planning on the CM Punk era when the guy isn't much to my liking. The Hornswagle thing should die out already. It's not entertainment. It's bullshit.

How do not like CM Punk? He's a great wrestler, great at promos, has a good gimmick, good role model...he's awesome...

Anyway, I hated that they put Punk to the finals just to lose to William Regal...it should have had Kennedy a surprise replacement for Finlay and Punk vs Kennedy in the finals, giving Kennedy the win.

I don't understand why Regal won tbh. He's not active, I dont really give a shit if he wrestles house shows or not. House shows have never mattered. The winner should've been someone that's going to get a push and not go back to jobbing like Regal has everytime he gets a push.

I've already addressed the retarded notion that Regal isn't "active" in other threads, so I won't bother again, but your "it's should've been someone who's getting a push" argument is just as stupid. Obviously since he won the tournament, he will be getting a push (or at least that should be obvious). And when has Regal been given a push, then gone back to jobbing? Every time I remember him getting a push was followed by a title win.

What is Greatness? How do you define it?

You must have a bad memory then. He's been pushed dozens of times before and then went to doing things like jobbing to a pirate and dressing like a woman. Not exactly a title win in my books.

Nah, my memory is just fine. I remember him beating Edge for the IC championship several years ago. I remember him in that stupid Un-Americans stable, and him winning the tag championship with Lance Storm. I remember him also winning the tag titles with Eugene, and then once more with Tajiri. He kind of took a backseat for his first year or so on Smackdown, but he did have that excellent match with Chris Benoit on Velocity in 2005. Then he joined up with Booker T (in that stupid "King Booker" gimmick), and feuded with Finlay for the U.S. championship. Then he teamed with Dave Taylor for a while before he got drafted to RAW, was interim GM, then won that battle royal and became permanent general manager. Just this year, he has wrestled Triple H and Randy Orton on RAW, not to mention winning the KOTR tournament. He's easily the top heel on RAW right now, and he's feuding with what some people call "the future", Mr. Kennedy.

I have no idea how you came to the ridiculous conclusion that he's gone back to jobbing "everytime he gets a push". You referenced ONE time where he was in a less than prestigious angle with Paul Burchill. How many more examples do you need of times where this DIDN'T happen?

Maybe, what Kage meant to say would be solidified by the point that even after all his accomplishments that you listed, before winning the KOTR, Regal always seemed like a lower mid-carder superstar, rather than a top main-eventer(which they are promoting him to be now)..this is even more so before he became the GM of Raw...

I agree he has faced Orton(in his own hometown) and HHH this year, but, hasnt he lost, in other words, jobbed to both of them?Heck, even Domino has faced the Undertaker, you cant just suddenly call him a top superstar now can you?

Need i say he was made to look like a Mr. Mcmahon's(got slapped by him in 2008) and Booker T's (you know wat happened in 2007 with the ALL HAIL KING BOOKER thing)a**-kisser for 2 years...you consider that an ACCOMPLISHMENT??

Now, one of those accomplishments i agree with, like beating Edge for the IC title..but, c'mon, that was like an era back, when the IC title mattered...his last 2 tag title wins w/ Eugene and Tajiri was done at a time when the tag team title meant s*it..

As far as I am concerened, I think Regal has been a 'use onli in the time of need' entity for the WWE...week after week, we see him and Taylor jobbing to London & Kendrick, him dressing like a woman, etc etc...but, suddenly, he's in a top match with the returning Chris Benoit in a PPV(only for the lack of a deserving opponent who cud tune the fans up for Benoit's return), and then the next week, we see him back to getting slapped around by Sharmell and Booker T..

I agree with Kage with the fact that, since 2001-2002, up until now, Regal has never seemed like a consistent main-eventer or even a top mid-carder...all he has been consistent in is getting embarassed or wrestling in the lower mid-card, with a few filler top spots here and there..

His recent abrupt run as the powerful king may have been very well tuned up for and pre-planned, but, it is also an example of the WWE experimenting with the fans, becoz, as of right now, Raw needed a top heel other than Orton, with the absence of Mr. McMahon, and Regal was filled in for the job...hopefully, this will be the end of his jobbing days...who knows?? Maybe, after 6 - 12 months when the fans will get bored of Regal's rants, just like Mr. Mcmahon, he will be replaced by his predecossor, and, he will be back to his jobbing days, onli coz, they wont need him anymore...poor guy....

Yeah, that'd be great, except that's not what Kage said at all. He claimed Regal goes back to jobbing every time he gets a push. The simple fact that he's got so many pushes contradicts that notion.

Anyway, that's the claim that I was refuting, not whatever argument you're trying to present. I don't see how you can say you "agree" when you're saying something completely different. That's a logical fallacy.

And would you mind showing me where I said the stuff he did with McMahon and Booker was an "Accomplishment"? That seems to be something you just made up.

It was stupid to have the gm win, they should use it to push someone who actually has a future.
