    Default Backlash Facts

Figured since this PPV, like No Way Out and others, will be hitting their 10 showings or at least running long enough to have some significant info, I'd list of the uniqueness, patterns, etc.

-Providing the JBL/Cena/Orton/HHH WWE Title match is last on the card, it will make for Triple H's 7th Backlash Main Event, a record (2000 - 2002, 2004 - 2006) especially in that all in some way invovled the WWE/World Title. However Triple H has won only once in all of those title matches and it didn't result in him becoming a WWE/World Champion (He was the Intercontinental Champion becoming a dual title holder in winning the World Tag Team Titles w/ Austin).

-John Cena has the unique distinction of having only WWE Championship matches at Backlash (2003, 2006, 2007, 2008?)

-Backlash has never had a cage match of any type. No standard Steelcage, Hell in a Cell, Punjabi Prison, etc

-The World Tag Team Titles have changed hands only twice (Tajiri/Regal lost to Rosey/Hurricane in 2005, Kane/Undertaker lost to Austin/HHH in 2001)

-The WWE Championship has only changed hands twice (The Rock defeated Triple H in 2000, Hulk Hogan also defeated Triple H in 2002)

-Chris Jericho will be at Backlash, but like in 2002, without a match to compete in. Jericho will also be the first "Special Guest" referee since Ric Flair officiated the Austin/Undertaker match in 2002.

-Chavo Guerrero will be competing in his first Backlash since 2003 (Los Guerreros VS Team Angle) and only his second ever.

-Shawn Michaels VS Batista will be HBK's first ever one-on-one match at Backlash. Shawn Michaels has only won once at Backlash (2005, HBK/Hulk Hogan defeated Muhammad Hassan & Daivari).

-Edge will expand his Backlash appearences record should he be able to compete this year to 8 (and 5 consecutively). He appeared in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004-Present. If you really want to be consistent, you can throw in his run-in appearence in 2001 on Christian's behalf which would tie him with Triple H.

-If the past is anything to go by, the Big Show will defeat the Great Khali as he has alternated wins and losses at this PPV (1999 loss to Mankind, 2000 win over Kurt Angle, 2001 loss to Shane McMahon, 2003 win over Rey Mysterio, 2006 loss to Kane). This doesn't count for his Heat match win in 2002 as they're not considered apart of the event despite occuring at the venue before the broadcast.

-This will be JBL's first match at Backlash since 2002 when as "Bradshaw", he lost to Scott Hall.

-Matt Hardy VS MVP for the United States Title will mark the 4th different championship Matt Hardy has competed for at this event (Hardcore Title, European Title, World Tag Team Title, United States Title).

-Attendance at Backlash declined between 2000 and 2003 at each show, but has risen steadily from 2004-forward.

-The World Heavyweight Championship has never changed hands at Backlash (not unless you count the Undisputed Title in 2002 which is another belt entirely).

-In 2008, The Great Khali, Jillian, Layla, Maria, Ashley, Cherry, Kelly Kelly, Natalya Neidhart, & Beth Phoenix are the only competitors to not have appeared at a previous Backlash event.

-Shane McMahon has unique history when it comes to Backlash. He is not only 3-0 in matches that include a Last-Man Standing and 2 Handicap matches in which he competed for the winning teams, but served as a Special Guest Referee in back to back events in 1999 & 2000 for the WWE Championship. -Jazz VS Trish Stratus over the Womens Championship is the only match in Backlash history to have the same outcome in consecutive years (2002, 2003)

-The 2008 12 Diva tagteam match is easily the largest amount of competitors in one match in Backlash history.
