Roma are interested in signing Florent Malouda from Chelsea, according to reports in the Italian press.

Malouda moved to Stamford Bridge from Lyon 12 months ago but he struggled to consistently find his best form.

He could not establish himself as a regular starter in the Blues side and there has been speculation that he could be set to leave the club this summer.

Luiz Felipe Scolari is currently assessing the squad he inherited from Avram Grant and may decide to make changes.

Roma are understood to be keen on Malouda as they look to strengthen ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

Speculation suggests they will open negotiations with Chelsea over the next few days.

Roma would reportedly prefer to take the Frenchman on an initial season-long loan deal, although they would also consider a permanent transfer.

Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista is another player to have been connected with Roma over the past couple of months.
