Default Seriously, Since when did all the Refs have such big mouths?

This thread relates back to last weeks Smackdown.

Last week on SD, we saw Drew get fired by Teddy. Teddy demanded the refs accompany Drew out of the building. Drew pushed a ref who replied with "Don't you push me. Get out". Since when did a Referee reply to a wrestler like that? Since when did a Referee get an attitude? It seems like every WWE Ref is like that... I remember when Refs were scared of Superstars.. Aah, Those were the days...

Um. If you're keeping kayfabe, then you made a point.

If you're marking out...the day the refs did that was when wrestling started. Refs are basically workers too. Just another gimmick.

I like the fact that the refs will yell at wrestlers and get in their faces. Undertaker, no, but others, sure. These guys are part of the work as well, but that doesn't mean that they have to look like the wimps in the ring all the time. It's nice that they are allowed to stand up for themselves sometimes especially in times that they get pushed around.

The scenario you described is fine and just adds to the role a bit more.

A couple of times lately though I have noticed the ref quite clearly talking to the wrestlers. I.e spot checking and the like which is just stupid to be seen but I guess the fault there lies more with the production crew than the refs themselves.

U mean like backstage, when something else is going on you are able to see refs talking to the wrestlers in the match? I think that scenario is completely on production, they shouldn't be showing anything that can break the illusion for the fans. Sure, the majority of us know it is a work and for our entertainment, but I still want to be able to get into the match without wondering what Randy Orton and that referee were talking about earlier...

No worse than that, noticed on both Smackdown and Impact, things such as the slight of hand movement onto the shoulder and a mumbled "up"it sounded like. Think it was McCool or Tiffany. Also the Impact things isn't a vocal thing ore of a being distracted on the apron only to clearly turn around and see what's happening ebehind and pretending not to.

These things happen though obviously but it shouldn't be quite so clear at times.
