It is the unfortunate responsibility to report that former Mexican superstar Scorpio passed away this morning at the age of 67.

Scorpio, whose real name was Rafael Nunez, was often billed as "Scorpio El Feo", which translates to "Scorpio the Ugly", as he was oftentimes billed as the "ugliest wrestler in the world" during the early 1980s in California.

Nunez's son, Rafael, Jr., competed as Scorpio, Jr. regularly. He began as a masked wrestler, but eventually lost his mask after losing a match.

Nunez held the UWA World Heavyweight Championship for two months, winning it on April 30, 1985 in Mexico City by defeating Canek, then lost the title on June 30, 1985.

As Scorpio, Nunez had the typical "tough guy" reputation since he was also the "company policeman" for the UWA head office during its heyday. Nunez worked for the Box y Lucha commission in the Distrito Federal (Mexico City metropolitan area) during recent years, and he was also the outside official in charge at Arena Mexico during Friday night shows, involved in such things as doing storylines and restarting matches.

On behalf of everyone here we would like to extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Rafael "Scorpio" Nunez during this tragic time.
