CONAN O’Brien thinks The Simpsons could go on to become the first centenarian sitcom.

The Hollywood funnyman and former Simpsons scriptwriter says Homer and his cartoon family show no signs of falling out of favor with audiences despite more than 20 years on TV.

“They’ve got the best cast in the world, they’ve got great writers, no one can age, it’s perfect,” says Conan. “I think they could go for another 100 years.”

But Conan has ruled out ever making a return to Springfield as a writer.

“Comedy like that is really hard and I think I would embarrass myself,” he adds.

“I think if I went back in the writing room I would be like, ‘Hey kids, Homer could fall down!’ And they’d be like, ‘That’s all right, old man.’”

Conan recently admitted his five-year-old son Beckett is especially critical of his comedy prowess.

“The boy is tough,” says Conan, 47. “He’s five and the girl (Neve, 7) is more, ‘I love daddy, he’s so funny, ha ha ha.’

“She’ll just start laughing but the boy will just stare at me. I really start getting the flop sweat. Then I really dig in and I try. It’s actually a great exercise.”
