The Young Bucks have helped AEW become one of the biggest promotions in wrestling. However, there is some recent backstage talk about what the future could look like for Matt and Nick Jackson.

The brothers are set for a major tag team match at AEW All In this weekend at Wembley Stadium. But once the show is over, fans could start wondering how much longer The Young Bucks plan to continue wrestling.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, Matt and Nick Jackson could be working under the final AEW contracts of their careers. That has led to speculation that the brothers may eventually start thinking about stepping away from full-time competition.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility of The Young Bucks eventually ending their in-ring careers.

“I’ve heard it discussed that this might be their last contract. You know, people always say that and then there’s so much money thrown at you afterwards to stay, so you always do. But, like I said, we’ll see what happens when the deal’s up,” Meltzer said.

Matt Jackson is already in his 40s, and Meltzer previously reported that the AEW Executive Vice-President had seriously thought about retiring before signing his current contract.

The Young Bucks, along with Kenny Omega and Hangman Page, signed new multi-year AEW deals in 2023. Those contracts are expected to keep them with AEW through at least 2027. So, the brothers’ AEW stint could be playing out its twilight years.

However, Meltzer’s comments suggest that their next contract decision could be an important one for their careers. Money could also be a factor in their decision.

Meltzer suggested that Matt, Nick, Omega, and Page are all financially comfortable enough that they do not necessarily have to wrestle forever.

“Aside from Page, I’m not sure how much longer any of them are gonna go, because Matt considered stopping. Matt’s in his 40s, and they’re set. All of them, they’re all set for life. They’ve made a lot of money,” Meltzer said.

However, after his comments received attention, Meltzer took to X to explain that his words may have been misunderstood. He made it clear that he had not personally spoken with The Young Bucks about their plans.



Because of that, there is currently no confirmation that Matt and Nick Jackson plan to retire when their AEW contracts end. For now, the idea is only speculation based on discussions Meltzer said he had heard.
