Does McMahon have it in for CM Punk?

I remember back when December to Dismember made everyone hate ECW even more, there were rumors saying the only part Vince wrote was that CM Punk would be basically destroyed then eliminated first. Now CM Punk is losing to the likes of Hardcore Holly, when easily has potential to be a main eventer of whatever brand they put him on. Does Vince want Punk to stay down in mid carder hell? Does he just not like the guy, maybe because he was big in TNA, ROH, and the independents? I dunno, it just seems like Punk is being held down.


To be honost, I think CM Punk has some of the greatest potential out of any other WWE superstar, and he could easily have a run at RAW or Smackdown's championships. I am actually rooting for him to win the Royal Rumble and jump shows, but with how they are using him now, I don't see that happening.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I honestly don't have a clue what Vince is doing with Punk. First, I thought he was going placed with his streak then when I saw Holly beat him clean earlier this week, I was shocked. I knew Punk would eventually lose but I figured it would be to someone like RVD or Lashley, not Holly.


Hopefully, Vince just wanted to end the streak so he could get it out of the way. Now that we know Punk can be beaten, he'll have to push himself harder to prove that he deserves title, much less, a title shot.

It's funny, cause the day after I post this, on pwmania.com, they had a news update about Punk being in the doghouse.

According to them, he openely disagreed with the layout of the Extreme Elmination Chamber. That pissed them off and made them end his streak. When he asked why, Arn Anderson told him Holly is the bigger star.

Vince also wants to turn him heel.

Punk will get his shots but he's like all other young guys...sometimes they overstep their bounds. Remember when Kennedy mouthed off 5 or 6 months ago (in canada, i think) and the wwe took his win streak from him just to put him in his place? Now he's going for the title at the royal rumble. Punk will get out of the doghouse...he's got too much potential for them to bury him for long.

Punk should have been straight to main event status. I mean, he was immediatly loved by fans and he has a LOT of experience. He has main evented pretty much every promotion he's been in. I dunno...I don't like how they are using him so far. He is one of the few people in the WWE who could end up big, and they have him in a fued with Hardcore Holly. No one cares bout Holly.

cm punk is gold! i just hope vince does not waste his talent. IMO he has the best submission move in WWE/ECW.

Now he needs help from Kelly to beat Matt Striker...this is just stupid.

That was kind of dumb how he won with Kelly's help. To top it off, he didn't even acknowledge her being there. I would've at least copped a feel.

Honestly, his time will come. I get tired of these undefeated streaks. Everyone comes in and they have them these days. It gets a little old.

The big thing you have to realize is he may have had a strong following on the indy scene, but Vince doesn't care. Most of the WWE fans don't follow the indy scene, so you have to treat him as though he is brand new. If it were somebody out of OVW that you guys didn't see in TNA or ROH, you wouldn't really notice anything. He is a rookie. He's not going to be World Champion right away.
