Should we be upset at WWE for not having Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Brock Lesnar on Raw as well?
I must admit, it feels a bit strange to defend WWE these days. The product has, more often than not, been a bit dull. Ending WWE Championship matches on PPV with a groin shot DQ is hardly the return a fan wants on their $40 investment. Diva Searches, incessant DVD plugs and numerous "within the show" recaps have given my FFWD button a regular workout when watching WWE product on DVR. However, I hate to break the news to all of the fans lining up to throw stones at Titan Towers over Chris Jericho not being on Raw ... or Cyber Sunday ... or No Mercy...
Don't blame WWE.
Nowhere, on WWE.com does it mention Chris Jericho is returning. Nowhere, on WWE television have the announcers hinted that he is coming back. Jericho himself, in numerous interviews, has never committed to a return to the ring. All of the "Jericho's book signing tour puts him in the same city as WWE that night" connections (and speculation) came from fans, not the company, and not Jericho. The "Save Us" videos? The ones that mentioned No Mercy, or numbers that could be construed as a date? Those same videos also featured words like "Big Show" and numbers that no one has managed to fit into one of the three thousand "Jericho theories" out there.
It's okay to be frustrated that Jericho isn't back yet. Watching Raw last night, I was frustrated that he hadn't returned either. I look forward to seeing him back in the ring, and I want his comeback to start sooner, rather than later. However, you can't blame WWE or Jericho for "not delivering on what they never promised".
