Drew McIntyre is likely to return soon.
'The Scottish Warrior' has been advertised to return to WWE programming on the May 29 episode of SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain at Olympic Arena. The former WWE Champion has been absent from television for several weeks following WrestleMania 42.
According to WWE's official event listing, McIntyre is scheduled to appear on the international SmackDown taping. The company has not yet confirmed what role he will play on the show or whether he will be involved in an active storyline.
McIntyre's last WWE appearance came at WrestleMania 42, where he competed in an unsanctioned match against Jacob Fatu. The violent bout effectively wrote him off television programming.
Reports have indicated that McIntyre's absence was not due to injury or storyline issues. Instead, the Scottish wrestler was reportedly overseas completing filming commitments for the Highlander reboot, an Amazon MGM Studios project directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Henry Cavill.
McIntyre is said to be playing Angus MacLeod in the film, though official casting announcements have not been widely confirmed through major entertainment trade publications.
