I think the reaction in Italy is an indicator at people's displeasure with Cena. Many though Italy would love Cena, but they absolutely detested him. And I think the cheered Lashley because they wanted their Italian "fan" to win the match.

The dominance of these champions is not only ridiculous but boring. When they do happen to lose they win it back around a month later anyway. It is the same issue that people had with HHH and Jarret. Both of these guys are amazing talents, but people got sick of the long championship runs. Add to this not so great talents and the crowd gets fed up much faster. Especially with talented individuals abound in the roster, especially hot underused talent in the Hardy Boys. Even I didn't have a huge problem with Cena's run until the 3 month mark passed and he kept winning against guys like Angle and HHH.

Dominance isn't a draw today like it used to be twenty years ago. People no longer want long reigns. It isn't exciting enough. There is no aura that the belt could change hands on any given night. And this has been missing on RAW for years, ever since the brands split. Smackdown! has gotten better and ECW has only had 3 champions since it became a WWE brand.
