Pre-Show:

We are in Brooklyn, New York and your host is Renee Young. She is joined by Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, and Lita.

Lita reminds everyone of the Finals of Tough Enough on Tuesday night on USA Network.

Renee mentions there is only one place to catch the Takeover special and that is on the WWE Network. Corey reminds everyone the first month is free if you are a new subscriber.

We see a portrait of Renee Young and Lita that was done on Friday, but Byron is not allowed to look at it because he rained on Lita and Renee’s parade.

Renee mentions the two main events on tonight’s show. First, there is the NXT Championship match between Kevin Owens and Finn Balor and it is a ladder match.

Kevin Owens makes his way into the arena and he walks through the back.

Renee brings up the fact that Kevin made it a ladder match.

Lita says it is a smart move and it puts Finn at a disadvantage by making it a ladder match. Lita mentions that she knows about ladder matches.

Renee also mentions the match between Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin.

We have a Baron Corbin video package.

Rich Brennan asks Samoa Joe if he is concerned and Joe is only concerned about Baron Corbin. He has been giving Baron the chance, but he waits on the sidelines. Tonight, he won’t have that opportunity because they will be meeting face to face. He will be taking care of Baron and he will put him to sleep.

Lita says that Baron is making his presence in NXT, but Joe has been doing it all over the world for sixteen years.

Corey says he is a believer in Baron. He is effective in the ring.

Byron says that Baron has put himself out there saying that he is the one who decides your fate. If he loses, those words to not mean as much.

We go to commercial.

We see the Apollo Crews video package.

We are back and they talk about the NXT Women’s Championship match between Bayley and Sasha Banks.

We see them arrive in the building.

We go to a video package.

They talk about how the building is so excited for the Women’s Match. Corey mentions the evolution of NXT and Triple H mentioned that the Divas are not put in the main event, they are the main event. He said they belong there.

Renee mentions that Lita was the first Diva to main event Raw. She says that it was fifteen years ago that she won the Women’s Title. The girls have put it in on the front end. They have done the work and regardless of where they are on the card, they will give everything in the ring.

Renee asks Byron is Sasha is underestimating Bayley. Byron says that he thinks Sasha sees some of Bayley in her. Corey says that Byron is delusional because Sasha was born to be the Boss and the best.

Corey says that Bayley is a fourteen year old girl at heart.

Byron says that tonight is when Bayley is going to show that she is not content to be there.

Lita and Byron say that Bayley wins while Corey thinks Sasha will win.

Greg Hamilton and Dasha Fuentes are outside the arena and they ask some of the fans what are they looking forward to seeing tonight.

They talk about the Tag Title Match and we go to a video package showing Alexa’s involvement in keeping the titles on Blake and Murphy.

Renee wonders who is going to be the X Factor and she brings up Lita. Lita says the Vaudevillains are her favorite tag team. Corey and Byron ask for a scoop and Lita says she might have to take off her heels to help them out.

Byron jokes about how he needs to text his guys.

We see a vehicle arrive at the Barclays Center and Neville comes out and he is with Finn Balor.

Neville wishes him luck and they walk in the back.

Cesaro stops to wish Finn luck.

We go to commercial.

We are back and it is time to talk about the WWE debut of Jushin Liger against Tyler Breeze.

Rich Brennan is with Tyler Breeze during a photo shoot. Tyler tells Rich to back up since he is getting busy for the biggest match of his career. Tyler puts the Liger mask over Rich’s face since it looks better.

Renee asks Lita to talk about Liger. She says that Liger was a legend when she started and he is still a legend.

They talk about the Ladder Match for the NXT Championship.

We have a video package.

Renee asks how does Finn overcome the odds.

Kevin says that it is better to be on your home turf. Finn is effective in Japan and that is where he won. Kevin has experience with ladder matches. You get comfortable despite the danger in ladder matches. You can do thinks you might not think you are able to do in there.

Byron is asked about Kevin having two matches this weekend. Byron says that Owens needs respect and get the buzz back from losing to John Cena and losing the NXT Championship. He can get the respect back by winning tonight.

Renee asks how things are different for Kevin tonight. Corey says that Owens is not the underdog even if he is the challenger. Balor is in unfamiliar territory and Owens will win the title.

Byron brings up what Owens did not say to Cole when asked about being able to beat Finn Balor.

Lita says that silence often speaks louder than words.

Byron says Finn retains. Renee mentions the entrance and what she is expecting. Lita says that she is going with Kevin Owens on experience. Corey agrees with Lita.

We go to credits.

Triple H is in the center of the ring as the spotlight falls on him. It started as a whisper until you screamed it at the top of your lungs. We gave it momentum, you made it unstoppable. We had a vision for change, you made it a revolution. We told you we are the future until you told us the future is now.

The lights come on in the Barclays Center.

Tyler Breeze makes his way to the ring with women walking the ‘runway’ wearing iconic features of New York City.


Tyler Breeze vs Jushin “Thunder” Liger

They lock up and Breeze with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Breeze relaxes on the turnbuckles. They lock up and Breeze with a side head lock and Liger with a drop toe hold and elbow drop. Liger goes onto the turnbuckles to mock Breeze. Liger with a single leg take down and then he applies a rocking chair but Breeze gets to his feet and he stomps on Liger’s midsection.

Breeze misses a cross body into the corner and Liger kicks Breeze and then he applies the surfboard and then sends Breeze to the mat. Liger with a monkey flip and Breeze flips over to his face. Liger takes a selfie while Breeze gets back to his feet.

Liger tosses Breeze his selfie stick and Liger with chops. Breeze rakes the eyes and then Breeze with a super kick for a near fall. Breeze kicks Liger in the corner and the referee warns him. Breeze with a snap mare and leg drop for a near fall. Breeze with a front face lock. Liger with palm strikes to escape. Breeze with a knee and then he hits a rolling lungblower for a near fall.

Breeze with a front face lock but Liger elevates Breeze and sends him to the mat. Breeze charges at Liger but Liger sends Breeze to the apron. Liger with a rolling kick into the corner followed by a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Liger goes up top but he lands on Breeze’s knees when he goes for a frog splash. Breeze with a crucifix cover for a near fall.

Breeze sends Liger into the corner and he kicks Liger. Breeze yells at the ref and he continues to punch and kick Liger. Liger with a palm strike out of the corner and then he goes up top but Breeze rolls to the floor. Liger with a somersault senton off the apron onto Breeze on the floor. Liger sends Breeze back into the ring and Liger sets for the Liger Bomb but Breeze escapes.

Liger with another palm strike and he hits the Liger Bomb for the three count.

Winner: Jushin Liger


We see Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman in the front row.

Backstage:
Bayley is in the locker room getting ready and Charlotte comes in and hugs Bayley while Becky Lynch comes in to shake her hand.

Simon Gotch and Aiden English come out in black and white with top hats for their Tag Title opportunity.

Before the match starts, Alexa gets on the mic and says it is no surprise they couldn’t find anyone. No one ever wants to help you because the two of you are so . . . pathetic.

Alexa goes to slap Aiden and Simon and they point to the entrance and it is . . .

NXT Tag Team Championship
Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy (c) (with Alexa Bliss) vs Aiden English and Simon Gotch (with Blue Pants)

Gotch and Blake start things off and Blake with a wrist lock into a hammer lock. Gotch with some dips and he reverses into a wrist lock. Blake goes for the leg but Gotch with a counter of his own for a near fall. Gotch with an arm bar but Blake sends Gotch into the turnbuckles. Gotch kicks Blake and sends him to the mat and then he rolls up Blake into a cross arm breaker but Blake counters into a rollup for a near fall.

Gotch with an arm drag into an arm bar. English tags in and Gotch with an elbow drop and English with a running kick for a near fall. English with an arm bar. Murphy tags in and they hit a double leap frog but English with a double Japanese arm drag followed by an arm drag on Murphy into an arm bar.

English with an Irish whip but Murphy sends English to the apron. English with a shoulder from the apron but Blake pulls English down when he goes for a springboard move. Blake tags in and he sends English into the ring and he gets a near fall. Blake with a knee to the back and a rear chin lock. Blake with a reverse chin lock as English tries to make the tag but Blake sends English back into his corner and he kicks English and tags in Murphy.

Murphy with kicks to English and he poses to mock the Vaudevillains. Murphy with more kicks and he gets a near fall. Murphy with a reverse chin lock. Murphy runs English into the turnbuckles and Blake tags in and Murphy Irish whips Blake into the corner and Blake with a knee drop and he gets a near fall. English with an arm drag to Blake and Blake goes to the floor by Gotch and Gotch is pulled off the apron. Murphy tags in and they hit a spike elevated neck breaker for a near fall.

Blake tags in and Blake is kicked into Murphy and English tries to split them to make the tag. Blake grabs English but English kicks him away and Gotch is tagged in. Gotch with an elbow and forearm to Murphy. Gotch with a knee to Murphy and a kick to Blake. Gotch with a running forearm to Murphy and then to Blake. Murphy hits Blake and then English tags in. Murphy gets away from Gotch and he crotches English.

Blake climbs the turnbuckles for a double superplex but Gotch counters with a double power bomb. English with a swanton to Murphy for a near fall. Gotch tags in and Alexa gets on the apron. Blue Pants pulls Alexa off the apron and then she chases Alexa into the ring. Alexa kicks her away and she is in the ring with English and Gotch. Blue Pants stops Bliss and takes her down. They fight to the floor.

Murphy sends English to the floor and he gets a near fall on Gotch. Gotch with the uppercut to the back of the head and English with a swinging neck breaker for the three count.

Winners: Aiden English and Simon Gotch

After the match:
The new champions celebrate in the ring with Blue Pants.


We take a look at Finn Balor entering the arena earlier tonight with Neville and then being stopped by Cesaro to wish him luck against Kevin Owens.


Apollo Crews vs Tye Dillinger

They lock up and Dillinger with a side head lock. Crews with an Irish whip but Dillinger floats over and he gives himself a ten for his performance. Crews does not appear to be impressed. Dillinger with a go behind and side head lock but Crews with a reversal. Crews floats over and he does a back flip and he gives himself a ten. Crews with a drop kick and Dillinger backs into the corner.

Dillinger with a kick and he sends Crews to the apron. Crews with a springboard move but Dillinger with a drop kick to send Crews to the apron. Dillinger kicks Crews in the corner and he chokes him. Crews gets a near fall and he gives himself a ten before he sets for a cobra clutch.

Crews keeps the hold from being fully applied but Dillinger does lock it in. Crews keeps moving but he goes down to a knee. Crews powers out of the hold and Crews gets Dillinger on his shoulders but Crews goes for a sunset flip and Crews drops down for a near fall. Dillinger with a super kick for a near fall. Dillinger with another near fall. Dillinger punches Crews. Dillinger is pushed away by Crews and Crews blocks a super kick and hits an enzuigiri. Crews with punches and a discus clothesline. Crews with a Stinger Splash and then he hits a leaping clothesline.

Crews presses Dillinger over his head and then he hits a standing moonsault for the three count.

Winner: Apollo Crews


Backstage:
William Regal is in the office and he says that NXT wouldn’t be here without Dusty Rhodes. William announces the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team classic. It will start with the September 2nd episode and will culminate at Takeover on October 7th. William says they have never tried anything like this before.

He says this will make the American Dream very proud.


Samoa Joe vs Baron Corbin

They circle each other before locking up. They lock up and Baron pushes Joe away. Joe avoids a punch and Joe with an arm bar and then he connects with a knee to the midsection and he follows with a front face lock. Corbin backs Joe into the corner and Joe goes for the choke but Corbin goes to the floor.

Joe goes to the floor but the referee gets in the way to tell them to get back into the ring. Corbin finally gets back into the ring. Corbin with a kick to the midsection and a forearm. Joe with an Irish whip and running elbow followed by an enzuigiri. Joe with a flying boot and it sends Corbin over the top rope to the floor. Joe sets for the suicide dive but Corbin with a forearm to Joe to keep him in the ring. Corbin follows with a forearm.

Corbin with a splash into the corner and he connects with two more before sending Joe to the mat. Corbin gets a near fall. Corbin kicks Joe in the corner. Joe with a forearm to the back and a kick to the chest. Joe with a chop and jabs. Corbin with a forearm and Joe with a rollup into a single leg crab. Joe turns it into a crossface. Joe with an arm bar but Corbin gets his foot on the ropes to force Joe to release the hold.

Corbin sends Joe to the floor. Joe takes Corbin down on the apron and then Joe sends Corbin into the ringside barrier. They return to the ring and Corbin with a knee bar into a heel hook. Joe crawls towards the rope and he is able to get to it to force Corbin to release the hold but Corbin takes his time.

Joe with a chop but Corbin with a spinning side slam for a near fall. Corbin misses a splash into the corner and Corbin with a thrust kick but Joe with an enzuigiri and both men are down. The referee makes his count and they get back to their feet before the ten count. Joe with jabs but Corbin with punches of his own. Joe fires back.

Corbin with forearms. Joe with slaps to Corbin but Corbin blocks a kick and connects with a punch. Joe with a back fist and then he puts Corbin on the turnbuckles for the muscle buster. Corbin punches Joe and kicks him away. Corbin with a boot to the chest and he hits a twisting suplex for a near fall.

Corbin kicks Joe in the corner. Corbin with more punches while the referee warns him. Corbin says it is over and he picks up Joe. Corbin sends Joe into the ropes for the End of Days but Joe goes behind and tries for the choke. Corbin with a snap mare and then Corbin with a spinebuster but Joe kicks out and he puts Corbin in the choke and Joe with the body scissors.

Corbin tries to fight out of the hold and he looks like he is going to pass out and the referee checks the arm and calls for the bell.

Winner: Samoa Joe


Stephanie McMahon makes her way to the ring.

Stephanie says that this is so cool. She says that there are 15,589 of you in this building tonight. There are many more watching around the world on the WWE Network. We are watching for one reason . . . NXT.

It feels so good. The energy is palpable. We are making history right here right now. Speaking of making history. A couple of weeks ago on Raw, she said she wanted a Divas Revolution on Raw. It started right here in NXT with some extraordinary women who give it their all and leave it in the ring night after night. Triple H says he doesn’t just put them in the main event, they are the main event.

Stephanie introduces the first main event, the NXT Women’s Championship Match.

Bayley comes to the ring with her inflatable friends on the side of the ramp while Bayley is driven into the arena with security.


NXT Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (c) vs Bayley

They exchange words before locking up and then Sasha calls Bayley pathetic. Bayley with a double leg take down and she punches Sasha. Sasha with punches of her own. Bayley with more punches. Bayley with an uppercut to the back followed by a clothesline for a near fall. Sasha with a forearm and then she sends Bayley into the turnbuckles. Bayley sends Sasha into the turnbuckles.

Bayley puts Sasha in the tree of woe and hits a double jump elbow drop for a near fall. Sasha with a rollup for a near fall. Sasha with a kick to the midsection. Sasha with an Irish whip but Bayley with an elbow and an arm drag off the ropes and Sasha goes to the floor.

Sasha stays on the floor and Bayley with a drop kick through the ropes in the corner. Bayley sends Sasha back in and Sasha with a knee to stop Bayley as she comes into the ring. Bayley is put on the middle rope but Bayley moves when Sasha goes for the double knee drop. Sasha and Bayley fight on the turnbuckles and Sasha tries for a superplex. Sasha kicks Bayley in the knee and Bayley falls to the floor.

Sasha mocks Bayley while Bayley is still on the floor. Sasha rubs Bayley’s face in the mat. Sasha with an elbow to the back of the head followed by an uppercut to the back and a spinning slap to Bayley for a near fall. Sasha hits Bayley in the back and applies a neck vice. Sasha with a knee to the back and a straitjacket choke.

Bayley gets to her feet but Sasha sends Bayley into the turnbuckles and Bayley is down. Bayley with forearms to Sasha and then Sasha puts Bayley in the ropes and Sasha misses the double knees again but Sasha sends Bayley into the turnbuckles. Sasha tries again and the third time but she puts Bayley on the top rope and Sasha connects. Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha taunts Bayley and calls her a loser. Bayley kicks Sasha in the face and sends her face first into the turnbuckles. Bayley with a drop toe hold and she punches Sasha in the head. Bayley is sent to the apron and Sasha drops Bayley’s arm across the top rope. Sasha takes off the brace on Bayley’s injured hand.

Sasha sends Bayley back into the ring and she sends Bayley to the floor one more time. Sasha grabs the injured hand and slams it onto the ring steps. Sasha stomps on the right elbow on the fllor and then puts the hand between the ring step and the ring and Sasha kicks the ring steps.

The referee checks on Bayley and Sasha with a flip dive over the referee onto Bayley. They return to the ring and Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha slaps Bayley and then goes for an arm drag using the ropes for extra leverage and Sasha is pushed off the ropes to the floor, but Bayley still took some of the damage to her injured hand.

Sasha rolls back into the ring to beat the count and Bayley and Sasha exchange punches and forearms. Bayley with double sledges to Sasha and she hits a shoulder in the corner. Bayley with a double jump back elbow into the corner. Bayley suplexes Sasha into the turnbuckles. Bayley goes for the belly-to-belly suplex but Sasha drops down to prevent the hold. Bayley with an O’Connor Roll but Sasha with an arm breaker into the Bank Statement. Sasha kicks the injured hand and Bayley counters into a Bank Statement of her own. Sasha gets to the rope to get Bayley to release the hold.

Sasha kicks Bayley in the head but she pulls Sasha off the ropes and Bayley hits the belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Bayley puts Sasha on the turnbuckles for a belly-to-belly superplex but Sasha with elbows. Bayley with a forearm to Sasha and she climbs the turnbuckles. Sasha pushes Bayley off on a super rana attempt. Sasha with a double knee drop but Bayley kicks out.

Sasha puts Bayley on the turnbuckles and connects with forearms to the back but Bayley knocks Sasha off. Bayley with elbows to the back of the head and Bayley hits a super reverse hurricanrana followed by the belly-to-belly suplex for the three count.

Winner: Bayley

After the match:
Becky and Charlotte come into the ring to celebrate with Bayley.

Sasha and Bayley hug after the match and then Charlotte and Becky glom onto the hug.


We are reminded of the fact that NXT will be going to the United Kingdom in December.


NXT Heavyweight Championship
Ladder Match
Finn Balor (c) vs Kevin Owens

Kevin points to the title belt above the ring and he says something to Finn. Kevin says he is going to whip his ass and take the title from him. Owens pushes Balor and goes to the apron but Finn pulls him back into the ring and punches Owens. Owens with a punch but Balor with forearms. Owens with a knee to the midsection but Balor with a drop kick. Balor looks up to the title belt and we watch from a ladder in the aisle.

Balor with a chop and Irish whip followed by a running chop. Balor with another Irish whip and running chop. Owens with an Irish whip and Balor floats over. Owens with an elbow and back senton.

Owens tries to go to the floor but Balor pulls him from the apron again. Balor with punches and Owens with forearms. Owens punches Balor while the crowd is focusing on something in the crowd instead of the match.

Owens chokes Balor in the ropes. Owens sets for a power bomb but Balor blocks it and takes Owens to the mat and hits a double stomp. Owens rolls to the floor and the referee checks on him. Balor goes to the apron and Owens punches Balor. Owens sends Balor into the turnbuckles. Owens with a cannonball on Balor. Owens looks at the title belt over his head and then he goes to the apron again but Balor grabs the leg.

Owens with a head butt and then he punches Balor. Balor with forearms but Owens with a head butt. Owens responds to the Ole Chants because Sami Zayn is NOT IN THIS MATCH. Balor with the Slingblade. Balor sets for the running drop kick but Owens gets to the floor and he goes after the ladder but Balor stops Owens and hits him with a forearm to the back of the head. Balor brings the ladder towards the ring but Owens grabs it and Owens wins the game of tug of war by sending the ladder into Barlor’s chest. Owens puts the bottom of the ladder against Balor and then Owens backs up and instead of running up the ladder, he steps to the side and punches Balor.

Owens kicks Balor to the floor. Balor punches Owens and connects with forearms. Owens tries to send Balor into the ringside barrier but Balor blocks it. They go into the crowd and Balor punches Owens. Owens Irish whips Balor into the ringside barrier and then he tries to power bomb Balor in the crowd but Balor back drops Owens over the ringside barrier into the ringside area.

Balor comes off the ringside barrier and Owens catches him and sends Balor into the ringside barrier and then Owens throws Balor over the announce table. Owens grabs the top of the announce table and he throws it at Balor. Owens gets on top of the announce table. Owens goes under the table for another ladder and Balor with a drop kick off the announce table onto Owens.

Balor gets into the ring and he looks at the belt. Owens pulls out the ladder and Balor with a plancha onto Owens on the floor. Balor brings the ladder back into the ring and he sets it up. Balor climbs the ladder but Owens grabs the leg. Owens sends Balor into the ladder and then Owens sends Balor to the floor.

Balor brings a ladder into the ring and Owens stomps on it. Owens tries to throw the ladder at Balor but Balor moves. Balor with a Pele kick and Owens leans against the ladder. Balor charges at Owens but Owens with a clothesline. Owens picks up the ladder and hits Balor in the ribs with it. Owens drives the top of the ladder into Balor’s chest. Owens slams Balor onto the ladder and then Owens hits a back senton onto Balor on top of the ladder.

Balor punches Owens but Owens with a knee and then he sets for a power bomb onto the side of the ladder but Balor with a back drop that sends Owens between the sides of the ladder. Balor sets up the ladder but Owens pulls Balor off and sends Balor into the other ladder in the corner. Owens sets for a cannonball onto Balor against the ladder but Balor moves and Owens hits the ladder. Balor with a running drop kick and he avoids the ladder. Balor goes up top for the Coup De Grace and then he sets up the ladder under the title belt.

Balor starts to climb the ladder and he touches the belt but Owens grabs Balor’s leg and he pulls Balor off and hits a power bomb. Owens starts to climb the ladder and Balor pushes the ladder over from the other side and Owens hits the turnbuckles and rolls to the floor.

Balor is pulled to the floor by Owens and Owens sets for the power bomb onto the apron but Balor blocks it and he hits the running kick to the head. Balor goes for a running double stomp off the apron but Owens moves and then Owens with a power bomb onto the apron and Balor is down.

Owens pulls himself into the ring while Balor is still down on the floor. Owens sets up the ladder under the title belt and he starts to climb. Owens gets to the top of the ladder but Balor gets into the ring and he pulls Owens off. Owens super kicks Balor and Balor hits the ladder. Owens sets up the ladder one more time and he tells Finn to stay down and Owens with a super kick. Owens kicks Balor and tells him that he did this.

Owens puts a ladder between the ladder in the ring and the turnbuckles. Owens climbs the ladder and he pulls Balor up for a fisherman’s buster onto the ladder across the ladder and turnbuckles. Balor blocks it and he punches Owens. Balor with punches and a forearm. Balor slams Owens’ head into the top of the ladder and Owens lands on the ladder and falls to the mat.

Owens is down next to the ladder. Balor is not able to grab the ladder and Owens climbs the ladder. Balor kicks Owens to the mat and Balor cannot grab the belt so he decides to hit a double stomp off the top of the ladder onto Owens. Balor holds his ankle after hitting Owens.

Balor moves the ladder so he can get the belt and he has it.

Winner: Finn Balor
