Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Holly Holm

Round 1: It’s time for our main event of the evening in front of this record-breaking crowd at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. This has big fight atmosphere like crazy. The challenger, “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holly Holm makes her way out first, and folks, she doesn’t look the least bit nervous. Quite the contrary. She looks completely focused. Holm enters the Octagon and looks ready to go to work. The champion, “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey makes her bad-ass entrance to the trademark Joan Jett song. She has the usual intense look in her eyes and pep in her step as she makes the walk to the cage. Bruce Buffer handles the final piece of pre-fight business. Rousey and Holm face-off in the middle of the cage. Holm extends her hands and Rousey is having none of it. She turns her back and walks off as the crowd ooh’s and ahs’s. Referee Herb Dean starts the fight. Rousey charges out at her and is intensely looking to engage. Holm connects as Rousey enters her range. Holm is doing a good job of using footwork to avoid any Rousey onslaughts. Rousey lands a good shot. Mike Goldberg informs us that this is the longest Ronda Rousey fight since the second Miesha Tate fight. Rousey gets Holm in a clinch, but surprisingly enough, not only does Holm survive without taking any punishment, she blasts Rousey with a solid shot on the way out. Holm blasts Rousey with a good shot coming in but Rousey gets a clinch again and this time takes Holm down. Holm now in the worst possible position in a Rousey fight, and she survives that one too, as she quickly escapes and gets back to her feet. Holm showcasing awesome footwork now, looking like a Roy Jones in his prime at times. Holm lands a nice straight left. Holm lands another good shot. Holm is really taking it to the champion here in the first round. Holly Holm just took Ronda Rousey down out of a clinch. Wow. This is starting to get pretty crazy. Rousey sloppily charges at Holm. Holm tags Rousey as she comes in. The round ends, and folks, that was a clear-cut Holly Holm round in anybody’s book.

Round 2: Holm picks up right where she left off in round one, scoring points and landing good shots. Holm just brutally knocked out Ronda Rousey with a vicious head kick. She follows in with punches and Rousey is completely unconscious.

Holly Holm def. Ronda Rousey via KO (head kick) at 0:59 of the second round to become the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
