^^ It's pretty sad it's only 2 novels left in the series, but Weber hasn't written a book in the series since 2018

When that is said, it took him 6 years between book 13 and 14 as well, so who knows...

Saving the last Honor Harrington book for later, so I ventured back to a series I haven't read in a while. It's the 9th book in Robert Asprin's MYTHadventures series.

^^ They are relatively short books. About 180-250 pages each. I just started on the next one in the series, and I've already read like 100 pages in one sitting

Soooo.... I just started on Glen Cook's Black Company series.

It's so dark. So grim. So gritty. So relentless... And I LOVE IT!
I've never read anything quite like it. And if Martin is known to be merciless. Cook are superior to him, in my opinion.

It's written in a style I've never read before. It's like reading someones diary. He does not waste time by describing stuff that's not important. So you don't get endless pages of describing how a forest looks, or how for that matter how people look etc. if they are not important to the story. All persons in the book have nicknames, like Silent, Goblin, Raven, Candy, One-Eye. This is a bit hard to get used to at first, but there is a reason for this. The nicknames are used because these people are mercenaries, so real names and past does not mean anything. Besides, if a magician knows your real name, he can hurt you, so it's better just to use a nickname.

I have read books written like diaries. I do like them. You are right, they are to the point and can sometimes give more detail to just one thing than a little since there are details for everything else.

Yeah, some books go quick, depending on my mood and the story in the book offcourse.

I usually take a book with me outside whenever I am grabbing a smoke. I can easily read like 20 pages during a smokebreak.

I really recomment The Black Company series. It's so dark and vile.
