Default AEW Dynamite Live Coverage - July 26th, 2023

    AEW Dynamite

After Boston's legendary TD Garden experienced Blood & Guts last week, All Elite Wrestling returns to Albany, NY and MVP Arena for first time since September 2022, and with it comes a huge edition of DYNAMITE! The Blackpool Combat Club, The Best Friends, and The Lucha Brothers will meet in a Three Way Tag Team showdown, while Orange Cassidy defends his AEW International Championship for the 27th time against AR Fox! Plus, we will hear from AEW World Champion MJF and Adam Cole, “The Bastard” PAC will be in action against Gravity, and Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D answers the challenge of Taya Valkyrie!

It is Wednesday and this week, AEW Dynamite is at the MVP Arena in Albany, NY. The commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz.

We start off with a video of the history of Darby Allin and AR Fox’s friendship. Just think how cool this would have been and assisted Fox when he first showed in AEW.

    AEW International Championship
Orange Cassidy (c) vs AR Fox

They shake hands to start the match. They lock up and Fox backs Cassidy into the ropes and they then work out to the middle of the ring and Cassidy works Fox into the ropes. They trade arm bars with Cassidy using sloth style to reverse the hold. Fox is then able to get a body scissor on Cassidy on the mat. Cassidy tries to get his hands in his pockets to break the hold and is able to do so and get to his feet.

They run the ropes, Fox dodges a drop kick and is able to roll through for a two count. Fox tries for a cutter and Cassidy rolls out of the ring to escape. Fox is able to hit Cassidy with a moonsault using the ring post as a kick off. They return to the ring and Cassidy is able to hit Stundog millionaire. Fox gets a mule kick off the ropes into a stunner. Cassidy tries for the spinning DDT and Fox blocks it and hits a twisting brain buster for two as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cassidy is trying for a back slide, and Fox fights back and it ends with them breaking and Cassidy getting a drop kick on Fox’s knee. Fox and Cassidy exchange kicks the way others exchange chops. After each trying to get a cutter, they are able to hit simultaneous cutters. They fight in the corner, Fox whips Cassidy into the corner where he goes up and over, and they keep fighting in different corners.. Cassidy rolls out of the ring, and Fox hits a tope, rolling Cassidy into the ring to hit a senton from the top for two.

Cassidy hits a drive onto Fox on the outside, and then hits DDT on Fox as they return to the ring. Cassidy is able to hit a backdrop for two. Cassidy takes off the elbow pad and goes to the top and Fox attacks him there. Fox is able to hit the Lo Mein Pain from the top for two. Moxley then shows and beats down Cassidy and leaves.

They chase each other in and out of the ring until Pack hits a kick through the ropes to the floor. They brawl outside the ring with Gravity getting a power slam and other moves on Pac as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Pac has taken over, and the Blackpool Combat Club is watching in the back. Max says he will give Adam a rematch for the world championship no matter what happens in the tournament. Adam says that Max is becoming one of his best friends. This perfectly sets up Roderick Strong coming in to be jealous and says he knows Max has ulterior motives. Adam says that Roddy is being possessive and needs to trust him.

    Backstage:
FTR also cut a promo about the match on Saturday that was filmed last week. They promise victory.

Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Darby Allin (w/ Nick Wayne)

They lock up collar and elbow with Swerve forcing Darby into the ropes. Darby gets a side headlock and Swerve fails to shoot him off into the ropes. Swerve picks Darby up, and Darby holds on for a takedown. Swerve picks up Darby and puts him on the apron, so that Darby has to break, and Darby grabs an arm drag into a side headlock.

Swerve forces them back into the ropes and gives Darby a shot as they break. They run the ropes and Darby gets an arm drag off the top ropes. Darby is able to hit a Code Red from the apron after they run the ropes again. Darby whips Swerve into the steel steps and he then sets them up to springboard off of them. Instead Swerve whips Darby toward the steps and leaps over, but Swerve is able to leap into Darby as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Swerve hits a flatliner and a suplex for two. They run the ropes and Darby gets a surprise roll up. They trade rollups and Darby grabs the Last Supper for two. Darby then spears Swerve on the apron to the floor. Darby returns to the ring and attempts a dive into Swerve, who nails him as he comes through the ropes. Swerve rolls Dabry into the ring and goes to the top.

Swerve hits a swerve stomp from the top for two. Darby goes to the top and Swerve meets him there. Darby hits an over the top stunner from the top and they roll to the apron. Darby goes up again and Swerve grabs his boot to knock him down. Swerve goes to the top and grabs Darby with a Fireman’s carry and nails a slam onto the apron, which, as we all know, is the hardest part of the ring.

As Darby is starting to get into the ring, AR Fox in a hoodie launches Darby into the ring post. Swerve is able to pull Darby into the ring and nails a driver for the pin and the win.

    Winner: Swerve Strickland

    After the match:
AR Foix comes into the ring for an attack, but Nick Eayne tries to fight him off. Fox uses Darby’s skateboard to attack Wayne, and Prince Nana gives Fox a Mogul Embassy shirt.

    Backstage:
Renee is looking for answers from the Jericho Appreciation Society. Jericho shows up and they all go into a dressing room to talk. The painting is hanging up in the dressing room. Anna Jay says Jericho is being selfish and he doesn’t appreciate them., so they can’t give him 100%.

She grabs a two count.

Taya drops Baker with a short arm clothesline for two. They run the ropes, missing with kicks. Baker tries for a casadora, but Taya holds on and looks to turn it into the Road to Vahalla, but instead loses her grip and Baker falls to the mat. Looked awful.
