Women wrestling goes clear back to 1921 with Cora Livingston as kind of the top girl. However there was not a whole lot of womento wrestle so she wrestled alot of men her weight. Normally in a carvinal or traveling circus. Later such stars as Mildred Burke, June Byers, & Nell Stewart came along.

Cora Livingston
Cora Livingston, generally recognized as the first world women’s champion in pro wrestling. Claimed the title from 1906 until her retirement in the 1920s. Married fellow wrestler Paul Bowser and later helped him run the New England territory for over 30 years.
