Locklear files for divorce

Actress Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from her husband, Bon Jovi lead guitarist Richie Sambora.

The couple's 11-year marriage has reportedly been on the rocks for months.

And now the blonde bombshell has confirmed the rumours by filing for a divorce at a Los Angeles court.

"This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time," said her publicist.


The twosome, who have an eight-year-old daughter, Ava, tied the knot in December 1994.

They denied their marriage was in trouble just one month ago.

"The real story is that there is no story," the couple said.

"The truth is that after 11 years together, we are still happily married. Boring but true."

In a bizarre twist however Locklear's good friend Denise Richards is also divorcing her husband Charlie Sheen.

Locklear and Richards have been close since they locked lips for an episode of Spin City in 2001.

And the former Melrose Place star has been a shoulder to cry on since Richards split from her husband.

Locklear was previously married to rocker Tommy Lee but it was Sambora's first marriage.
