    Default Premiership round up

Chelsea moved top of the table with a 2-0 win over Fulham, while Arsenal recorded their first success at The Emirates Stadium with a 3-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Elsewhere, Watford picked up a point at Wigan and Martin O'Neill continued his superb start as Aston Villa boss with a 2-0 win over struggling Charlton.

Frank Lampard silenced his critics with two second half goals to give Chelsea the spoils in their West London derby with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea won a penalty on 73 minutes when Liam Rosenior was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box and Lampard, who was back on spot-kick duty, made no mistake from 12 yards.

The England international sealed the win for Jose Mourinho's men with a superb second goal ten minutes from time.

In the evening kick-off Manchester United failed to overtake Chelsea at the top as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Reading.

Kevin Doyle gave Reading the lead early in the second half with a penalty after Gary Neville had been adjudged to have handled inside the box.

Cristiano Ronaldo spared United's blushes with a superb equaliser to deny Reading a famous win.

Arsenal spoiled Neil Warnock's 1,000th match as a manager with a convincing 3-0 win over Sheffield United.

United frustrated Arsenal in the first half, but William Gallas broke the deadlock on 65 minutes with his first goal for his new club.

Phil Jagielka gifted Arsenal their second goal four minutes later when he diverted Thierry Henry's cross into his own net.

Henry notched his first goal in open play ten minutes from time when he headed home Emmanuel Eboue's cross.

Manchester City eased the pressure on Stuart Pearce with a 2-0 victory over West Ham at Eastlands.

Two second half goals from Georgios Samaras were enough to give City a much-needed win and leave West Ham without a win in their last six games.

Aston Villa continued their fine start to the season with a 2-0 win over Charlton.

Gabriel Agbonlahar gave Villa the lead on 35 minutes with his first goal of the season.

Luke Moore added a second just past the hour mark to maintain Villa's 100 percent record at home.

Blackburn picked up their first win away from home with a narrow 1-0 victory at Middlesbrough.

Shabani Nonda was the hero for Rovers with the only goal of the game on 27 minutes with his first goal for the club to complete a miserable week for Boro.

Watford picked up a priceless point after a 1-1 draw at Wigan.

Henri Camara fired Wigan in front on 29 minutes with his first goal of the campaign, but Hameur Bouazza's second half goal ensured a share of the spoils for Aidy Boothroyd's battling troops.

Liverpool piled the misery on struggling Tottenham with a 3-0 win at Anfield in the early lunchtime kick-off.

Mark Gonzalez broke the deadlock early in the second half with his first Premiership seconds after Jermaine Jenas had a contender for miss of the season when he somehow failed to find the net from four yards out.

Dir Kuyt doubled the lead with his second goal in two games and John Arne Riise, who celebrates his birthday on Sunday, gave himself an early present with a brilliant third goal in the last minute

The defeat leaves Spurs languishing in the wrong half of the table and without an away point this season.

United are poor is the simple fact. I'm a United fan but they just aren't a good enough team anymore. They have too many players who just wouldn't have been anywhere near good enough to be United players three or four years ago.

In my view at the end of this season Fergie should pack it in and let United get on with a new era, as he is just too attachted to some players and it means he doesn't know when to get rid of them. He also has proved himself to be rather poor in the transfer market in the last few seasons.

Basically, Chelsea have the title won already. No-one will be able to stop them making it a hat-trick of titles unless another Russian billionaire comes in now. Just angers me how Abramovich has ruined English football.

They supper chance after chance and if Richardson has any more games like that then his days as a United player are severely numbered! Fergie was poor in transfer market i agree, and shouldnt have wasted so much time trying to sign Hargreaves and should have invested elsewhere. I hope that new rule comes in to cap chelseas spending as your right.

i watched the man united game and i thought they were average. maybe arsenal beating them has shaken their confidence as the same thing happened to arsenal when man united stopped our unbeaten run

I can honestly say that, that was the stongest performance for Liverpool yet this season, they showed such control and I know Totenham had two open goals and missed but that just showed how focused Liverpool were, they had chances, the different is Liverpool delivered with theirs.
