Default The D-list. Recap and A List Of The Worst Gimmicks

The D-list. Recap and A List Of The Worst Gimmicks

RAW: Who should be the new GM at Raw. Raw is in need of a GM to push story-lines. I've looked at the answers to this question left on the comment section and there were some very interesting suggestions. My pick. If it's a heel GM, I'd like to see The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. He is one of the all time great heels and with the million dollar man gimmick, he could appear to be autonomous of the McMahons. A face GM, The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes made a great GM at TNA and that was with very little to work with, just imagine what he could do on Raw.

SMACKDOWN: Cena received major audience pops and proved my point that he would work better on Smackdown. Rey Mysterio picked up a win against Elijah Burke. This was a great match and it was nice to see Rey in a fight where I didn't feel like I needed a shower afterward. Turkay and Burke look like they have the goods and I look forward to their first real feud. Last week I suggested that the WWE create some personality promos for London and Kendrick. They made a promo but it featured their athleticism. We all know that these guys can fly, what we don't know is if they have an interesting character. James and Steven pulled off a win against the newly disbanded pitbulls. With Kash fired, they will have to find something else for Noble to do. The pitbull is a classic gimmick and if they gave it to the Gymini, it just might work. The only good thing about Michelle McCool being James and Stevens manager is that she has been silent. Matt Hardy lost to Chavo, Helms and Vickie. Excuse me while I wash some of the Ugghh off me. I hope this whole thing comes to an end after the Pay-Per-View, or I'll have to pick up a lot more soap. Mr. Kennedy is one of the few of the Undertaker's opponents who actually deserve the push. Kennedy has put over how tough the Undertaker is and doesn't look like he will make a fool out of the Phenom. I liked the spark from the mic that the Undertaker caused. The Miz had a decent match with Tatanka. Miz is still green in the ring but boy is he fun to hate. WWE management need to focus his skills and personality. This guy can be a great heel and a big star. Sylvan picked up two wins in a row. Wow he's on a streak. Jimmy Wang Yang has one of the strangest gimmicks I've ever seen. The Japanese red-neck. It's obvious from his match that Jimmy has some serious skills. This is going to be one wild ride. Lashley, Batista and Cena defeated the evil Regal, Finlay and King Booker. Pretty good match. The heels were strong enough to lead. I still think Cena will be heading over to Smackdown.

TNA: Watching TNA this week I thought back to when Y2J Chris Jericho debuted on Raw. Jericho was given a chance he never had before and he ran with it. When Chris Benoit saw the appearance, he wished he had made the jump to the WWE with him. I bring this up because reputation is a double edged sword. If wrestling stars are watching TNA misusing talent, then I doubt that they will jump over, unless they have to. Christian is a talented performer and now he is mired in a go nowhere feud with Rhino. If you think back to what was done with Jeff Hardy, you will see what I mean. Granted Hardy still had some serious problems when he was in TNA, but they didn't do him any favors. Maybe TNA has learned their lesson, but with Angle coming in as the guest enforcer for the Jarrett vs Sting match, I seriously doubt it. On with the show. Jarrett made Lance Hoyt his bitch. Do you remember when Lance Hoyt looked like TNA's next big star? What happened? With this kind of humiliation it looks like Hoyt's days might be numbered in TNA. Samoa Joe over Raven. This is what I predicted weeks ago. All of you TNA fans told me Joe was going to be pushed to main event, that TNA knew what it was doing. Joe is in a four way match with Raven, Runt and Abyss. With Angle looking like he's next in line for the title, it looks like Joe will be staying where he is until Jarrett attacks him from behind with a belt. Team 3-D is back. With a win over some jobbers and more to come in their future. Their momentum is almost all gone. Looks like Jarrett doesn't like Eric Young's popularity. Eric wasn't able to do anything but push some kind of split-personality gimmick. TNA needs to learn that faces don't have to be a-typical. I like Eric as a coward that somehow finds a way to win. If he develops a more aggressive personality, I don't know if I'll find him as fun. The Paparazzis have a tag team gimmick that will work, but once again they are not allowed to do what they do so well. No video or personality allowed. It might have been a nice six man tag team match, but TNA decided not to show it. They focused on Christian and Rhino instead. This match shows you why TNA will not succeed. They pass over something that's good to focus on something that is tired. No Jackass references this week, I guess that contract has run it's course. With Jarrett still with his hand in booking, it looks like the stars of TNA will be held back. Too bad. I hope Eric Young, Alex Shelly, Lance Hoyt and others become frustrated by this system and jump ship.

Welcome to the D-list brought to you by potential. Nothing sadder than wasted or misused potential.

    THE WORST GIMMICKS

Duke the Dumpster Droese. What was management thinking? People love garbage men and want to watch them wrestle.

Thurman Sparky Plugg. No wonder Hardcore Holly is so mad. This gimmick had all the stupid trappings including a little race car.

Glacier. Ratings run cold. The guys entrance was longer than his matches.

The Shock-master. The only thing that was shocking is, that it was Tug Boat.

There are so many others but I can't quite remember their names. Like the plumber and the robot and...

What do you think are the worst gimmicks of all time?

worst gimmick ever was Glen Jacob's (Kane) first go around in WWF as the demented dentist Isaac Yankem.
