Match #8: "The Phenominal" AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe

The two lock up and Joe tosses him off. AJ goes for a single leg takedown and Joe kicks him off. Joe launches AJ and then hits a low leg sweep. AJ to the corner Joe follows with a back elbow then hits a kick to the back of the head of AJ. Joe puts AJ to a seated position then slaps him on the back and goes for a kick. AJ catches it and yanks him down. AJ charges Joe, Joe sidesteps and kicks the back of AJ’s leg and AJ flies through the ropes to the outside. Joe gets ready and hits a suicide dive through the ropes onto AJ on the outside.

Joe tries to suplex AJ into the ring. He jabs AJ a few times and AJ falls off the apron. AJ tells the referee he is hurt but Joe comes outside and gets AJ and sends him back inside. Quickly we end up back outside and Joe sends AJ into the guardrail and Joe sets up and charges but AJ leaps up and clotheslines him. AJ says he’s smart and that’s how he does things.

Inside the ring now and AJ hits a kick to Joe. He now tries to choke Joe across the ropes and the referee forces the break. AJ charges Joe who hits an Inverted Atomic Drop, he then gets caught with a Spinkick by AJ and AJ gets a two count. Joe fights back with a series of right hands. AJ hits a knife-edge and a forearm shot. He goes to the ropes, springs back. Joe catches him and hits an overhead release suplex. Joe hits an inverted atomic drop. Joe goes for a kick, AJ slides under. Joe turns and runs back and hits a Senton Bomb on AJ. Two count for Joe.

Joe snapmares AJ and he ends up on the apron. AJ double spring boards back into the ring and hits an inverted DDT off the springboard and a two count. AJ has Joe in the corner and punches him. He now tries for the Styles Clash. Reverses does Joe and AJ almost has the Styles Clash set up. Joe wriggles free and hits a Death Valley Driver and a two count.

Joe is on the mat outside and he is holding onto his knee. He rolls inside and Joe is asking for time. AJ goes right for the leg and Joe kicks AJ in the face with his good leg. Joe tries to charge AJ but the leg gives way and he falls. AJ climbs the ropes and hits a Sprial Tap but Joe rolls away. Joe gets right up and admits he faked the leg injury. Joe points to his head and locks on a Rear Naked Choke then hits a Rear Naked Choke Suplex and pins Styles for the victory.
