I saw this happen live last night. Jake pulls a huge 720 over the gap, then loses his footing going up the pipe, but has so much momentum that he flies 50 feet into the air and crashes harder than I've ever seen any skateboarder crash. This was both the worst and the best X Games moment ever. Watch the slow-mo replays at the end where you can see his shoes pop off from the impact:
It's simply AMAZING that he walked away from this. I thought he was dead when he landed, or at least had broken every bone in his body. He's supposed to be released from the hospital this weekend.

wow thats crazy he did landed pretty nice though, not like straight on his head, I think he did a good job, maybe saved his own life right there

I was watching this last n8ight in dis-beleif as it happened, like Butoden said he probably saved his life turning at the last moment.
