Smackdown's Weak Tag Team Division

Some would say that the Smackdown tag team division is weak. Others would use the term "nonexistent".

Deuce & Domino

Deuce & Domino are the best tag team on Smackdown right now.

That's not really a compliment.

They're the best tag team on Smackdown by default simply because the division is at its lowest point right now.

Deuce & Domino are a pretty decent tag team in their own rights. They have a good gimmick, an awesome theme song that fits them so well, and an actual tag team move.

Cherry is also a good complement to the team because her gimmick fits them. She doesn't do much, but she's good at what she does.

However, the fact that Deuce & Domino are the WWE Tag Team Champions shows how depleted the tag team division is right now.

If these two guys were around during the 80s, they wouldn't have even come close enough to have sniffed the tag team titles.

They're not nearly on the same level as a tag team such as the Killer Bees, who never really got a chance to shine because the division was so deep back then.

The Major Brothers

In their short stint on the ECW brand, the Major Brothers impressed management enough for them to be moved to a brand that actually has a tag team championships.

Unfortunately, the writers have completely forgotten them since the WWE Draft Lottery.

At the very least, the Major Brothers should be feuding with Deuce & Domino for the WWE Tag Team Championship. The writers don't necessarily have to do a title switch, but having them gunning for the belt would do wonders for them.

The Major Brothers have been working in tag team matches against Deuce & Domino at house shows, so that could be a sign that the feud will happen soon.

The duo is pretty decent in the ring, but they are young. Their relative lack of experience is a major reason why the writers have yet to utilize them much on Smackdown.

Plus, the fact that they don't really have a gimmick hurts them.

Jesse & Festus

Jesse Dalton and Festus Dalton are on their way to Smackdown. However, it would be pretty unrealistic to assume that these two guys can save the Smackdown tag team division.

Jesse Dalton is the son of the legendary "Bam Bam" Terry Gordy, a member of the Fabulous Freebirds. He is a gifted talker. Another thing Jesse Dalton has going for him is that Smackdown head writer Michael Hayes is a close family friend.

While in OVW, Jesse Dalton worked with Henry Godwinn in a tag team. They were a new version of the Godwinns tag team. Jesse Dalton learned quite a bit during this part of his career.

A few fans may recognize Festus Dalton as the fake Kane that showed up on Raw last year. He's only a decent wrestler, but his gimmick should cover that up while he continues to develop.

With characters that are so different from Deuce & Domino, the storyline could write itself. Also, with very few actual tag teams on Smackdown, the duo has a chance at being in the top spot.

New Tag Teams

Another thing the writers should consider is putting together wrestlers who aren't doing anything and placing them into the tag team division temporarily.

Guys like Chris Masters, Kenny Dykstra, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore, Hardcore Holly, Sylvan Grenier, and Dave Taylor could be used to add some depth to the tag team division. Give them a hot diva like Maryse or Michelle McCool to boost their popularity.

Closing Thoughts

The solution to the Smackdown tag team division is already there, but it's up to the writers if they're even interested in improving that part of the product.

The hole WWE tag team division from top to bottom is week. TNA has more tag teams then the WWE's 3 shows combine. Theirs really not ah lot of great teams out there right now. WWE needs to take a few more singles wrestlers and make tag teams that last for awhile. Also Londrick should have never been put on RAW. Worst move of the draft by far.

SD! has no tag teams other than Deuce and Domino/ The Major Brothers and nothing more. RAW has tag teams but majority of them have been reduced down to jobbers to the likes of Umaga,Khali,Snitsky and Cody Rhodes(I'm talking about WGTT).
