ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Kid Rock treated a few locals to private showing of the new movie "Benchwarmers" after performing for students at nearby Clemson University.

In true rock star fashion, the genre-crossing entertainer - whose real name is Bob Ritchie - rented out a movie theater Thursday, inviting everyone on his tour bus and a few locals.

Despite his celebrity, he says that offstage he is "just Bob."

"I try to stay humble," he said. "People forget this is all just fun. Good spirits and fun. There's no evil, no bad. It's all just fun. We're here for a good time."

He said he wanted to be one of the first to see the film, starring his friend David Spade, which opened Friday.

Kid Rock is promoting his album "Live Trucker," a collection of his best-known songs recorded live over the past six years.
