Default WWE Confiscate Benoit Signs in San Antonio, TX

    from James Salinas:

I was in attendance to tonights taping of Smackdown, and security had taken away most of the Benoit signs. For the most part, the signs we respectful and positive - many simply stating "Chris Benoit 1967-2007". I didn't see any negative signs or any kind of backlash, doesn't mean that there weren't any, but i didn't see any. WWE was very serious taking away any sign with his name or likeness. I saw one sign taken away stating "toothless aggression will live forever". These signs were in the arena so I guess they made their decision last minute, usually they screen controversial signs upon entry, and when I entered the building they asked to see signs. There were a couple of Benoit chants before the dark match. But other than that I didn't hear any other chants for Benoit not even the faintest attempt. There was no Benoit merchandise at the stands, and during the warm up videos my friend noticed that Benoit was shown only once, and it was a long video package. I didn't see Vince's segment before the show, so i'm assuming that it wasn't shown live for us to see or I must have spaced out really bad. As far as the wrestlers go i didn't see any kind of emotion, looked like business as usual.

I would like to say that everyone needs to stop making assumptions and draw conclusions prematurely. The bottom line is that this is an open case, and while it doesn't look good, a child, a woman, and one of the best in the business are dead. None of you have the right to condemn Chris Benoit. The only one that will judge in the end is God Himself. Benoit, Rest In Peace, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Yep this case sure is wide open. I mean the police(who are the police, not a group of random people out to make Benoit look guilty) said that there were no signs that anyone else had been in the house, so that means it was one of the three in the house. It probably wasn't the 7 year old, but hey the case is wide open so if you can give me some evidence go ahead. So that leaves two and by what you're saying it would've had to be the wife and you know what i think youre right. She probably killed the son then overpowered a roided up Benoit and hung him making it look like he had done it himself.Next she goes into her bedroom, puts on enough make-up so it look like she had died before the other two then ties her wrist and feet up and somehow strangles herself. Yep thats probably what happened.

And i get a kick out of some of these people saying maybe he had to kill his son because he witnessed the murder or he didn't want him to become orphaned. You know how he could avoided that? By not killing his wife.

Some of you people need to wake up and realize that maybe Benoit was a nice guy and he probably was one of the best ever but that does not give him the right to murder two people. If Charles Manson was a famous wrestler would you all be paying your respects to him? Probably not.

    Update (Jun 27th):

This is the latest from the Associated Press in the Chris Benoit murder-suicide case.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Two days before he and his family were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide, pro wrestler Chris Benoit told co-workers his wife and son had food poisoning and were throwing up, according to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine pulley, authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities offered no motive for the killings, which were spread out over the weekend and discovered Monday. No suicide note was found.

On Saturday, Benoit called a co-worker to say he had missed a flight and would be late for a wrestling event in Texas, WWE said in a timeline posted Tuesday on its Web site. The co-worker said Benoit sounded tired and groggy and said "I love you," which the co-worker found "out of context," WWE said.

When a co-worker who usually travels with Benoit called him later from the Houston airport, Benoit told the co-worker his wife, Nancy, was throwing up blood and that his son, Daniel, also was throwing up. Benoit said he thought it was food poisoning, according to WWE.

After Benoit talked to a WWE Talent Relations representative, the representative suggested Benoit try to make it to a pay-per-view event in Houston since he would not be able to make it to the live event in Beaumont, Texas.

But early Sunday, two co-workers received a series of text messages from the cell phones of Benoit and his wife. Most stated his home address in Fayetteville, about 20 miles south of Atlanta. One message from Benoit's phone said: "The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open," according to WWE.

The text messages led WWE to ask authorities to check on Benoit and his family.

District Attorney Scott Ballard said the messages appeared to be an attempt by Benoit to get someone to the home to find the bodies after his suicide.

Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man nicknamed "The Canadian Crippler" was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage."

"In a community like this it's bizarre to have a murder-suicide, especially involving the death of a 7-year-old," Ballard said. "I don't think we'll ever be able to wrap our minds around this."

He said Benoit's 43-year-old wife was killed Friday in an upstairs family room, and her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle. Daniel was probably killed late Saturday or early Sunday, and his body was found in his bed, the district attorney said.

Benoit, 40, apparently hanged himself hours later, Ballard said. His body was found in a downstairs weight room hanging from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment.

The prosecutor said it appeared the wrestler remained in the house for up to a day with the bodies.

The boy had old needle marks in his arms, Ballard said. He said he had been told the parents considered him undersized and had given him growth hormones.

"The boy was very small, even dwarfed," Ballard said.

Toxicology test results may not be available for weeks or even months, Ballard said. As for whether steroids played a role in the crime, he said: "We don't know yet. That's one of the things we'll be looking at."

Benoit received drug deliveries from a Florida business that sold steroids, human growth hormone and testosterone on the Internet, according to the Albany County, N.Y., District Attorney's Office, which is investigating the business, MedXLife.com.

Six people, including two of the pharmacy's owners, have pleaded guilty in the investigation, and 20 more have been arrested, including doctors and pharmacists.

The WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., issued a statement Tuesday saying steroids "were not and could not be related to the cause of death."

"The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage," the company said, adding that Benoit tested negative April 10, the last time he was tested for drugs.

Steroids have been linked to the deaths of several professional wrestlers in recent years. Eddie Guerrero, one of Benoit's best friends, died in 2005 from heart failure linked to long-term steroid use.

The father of Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig blamed steroids and painkillers for Hennig's drug overdose death in 2003. Davey Boy Smith, the "British Bulldog," died in 2002 from heart failure that a coroner said was probably caused by steroids.

Your telling us to wake up to ourselves? Explain to me how the wife then tied her wrists and ankles up and why she would do that, not to mention how did she asphyxiate herself being tied up. Dear me.

The reasons that he killed his son so he did not ghrow up without a mother or knowing what his father did or because Benoit worried about how isck he was and who would look after him after the parents werwe dead are plausible.

Obviously if you had've really read my post you would have been able to tell that i wasn't being serious. The guy above mine said the case was wide open because he is obviously in denial. There are a lot of people in denial when the simple fact is that Benoit did it, the police are not out to make him into a monster, he murdered two people. No matter how great of a wrestler he was he did in fact murder two people. That was the point I was trying to get across.

probably going off topic from all the news but..

the last appearance he made on ECW television after he won his last match he walked to the ECW title looked at it and touched then walked off.. i could think that now that was a last thing he wanted to do. wonder if he was thinking off murdering his family at that moment.

at first i didnt want to believe this or say negitive things about benoit i mean after all i cried when i found this out why cant we face benoit is not as good of a person as he was a wrestler. and as good as a wrestler he may of been he should not be celebrated or appriecated Why not remember Hitler for building Germanys economy, providing thousands of Germans with food, shelter and jobs. There is no double standard about it, Benoit created one hell of a legacy and do a lot for wrestling, but when he bound his wife and killed her plus his seven year old son, he threw it all away
EDIT: Your sig is way to wide. Please refer to sig rules in Announcements.

All the good things he did were totally forgotten about because of what was seen reported. RIP Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit.

i agree, people forgetting the good stuff he did

Default Benoit Doctor Could Be Charged Today, According To Los Angeles Times

    source: latimes.com

Federal drug enforcement investigators raided the office of pro wrestler Chris Benoit's doctor Thursday, and the findings could result in criminal charges by federal prosecutors as soon as today, a law enforcement official said.

Benoit, 40, strangled his wife, Nancy, 43, last Friday and later asphyxiated his 7-year-old son, Daniel, then hanged himself using a weightlifting machine cord over last weekend at their Fayette County, Ga., home.

Benoit's Carrollton, Ga.-based physician, Phil Astin, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he met with the World Wrestling Entertainment star last Friday and previously had prescribed him testosterone to boost levels of the hormone that were in decline — probably caused by prior steroid use.

Less than 24 hours later, the Drug Enforcement Administration raided Astin's office, focusing on whether Benoit's medical records showed he was prescribed steroids, and if so, whether the prescription was necessary, a law enforcement source told the AP. A DEA spokesman said no arrests were made. Calls to Astin's office went unanswered, and Fayette County Dist. Atty. Scott Ballard could not be reached for comment.

Prescription anabolic steroids were found inside Benoit's home by police on Monday, and Benoit was listed as a customer of a Florida clinic whose owners pleaded guilty to illegal steroid distribution this year.

The steroid discovery raised questions about Benoit's state of mind before the killings and his suicide. Steroids can cause violent mood swings, including depression and paranoia.

County authorities continue to investigate what prompted Benoit's attack. WWE boss Vince McMahon appeared on NBC's "Today" show Thursday and softened from a previous company statement that steroids could not have not resulted in the deaths, saying drug use "may or may not" have triggered the killings.

Bryan Alvarez, an independent wrestler and friend of Benoit's, said it's no secret in the pro wrestling community that some performers work with doctors known in the industry as "mark doctors," who prescribe steroids, painkillers or other performance-enhancing drugs without proper cause.

"Some steroids can't be legally prescribed for injuries," Alvarez said. "I don't know if [Astin's] name showed up on the bottles inside Chris' house, or if he didn't give them for legitimate reasons, but the fact he got raided shows he did something wrong."

Several empty beer cans and an empty wine bottle were found inside the Benoit home, Ballard said.

Investigators also are seeking answers to an allegation that Benoit's Wikipedia page was altered to claim Nancy Benoit was dead in a posting more than 12 hours before authorities found the Benoits' bodies, Fox.com reported Thursday.

benoits doctor could be possibly charged

I have been asked many times do I truly believe Chris Benoit murdered his family and then committed suicide. To be quite honest I'm not sure how to answer this question anymore. I have my own personal beliefs on what I think may or may not have happened but they are just my opinion. I don't really know what went on that tragic weekend and I don't believe we will ever truly know exactly what happened. The only people that could answer that question for us are no longer here. Do I believe all the media speculation that has been said? No. Do I believe that Chris Benoit was an evil man? Definitely not. Do I believe that steroids caused this? No way. I think as hard as it may be we all need to try and move on and let them rest in peace. We all need to start the healing process because I don't know about you but I don't think I have even began to heal yet because all I do is hear about it everywhere I go. Nancy and Chris' family need to be able to mourn the loss of their loved ones. I can just imagine how hard this has been for them. If any of you read this I have all of you in my thoughts and prayers. If you ever need anything..I mean anything you know where to find me.

While I'm on this subject I am going to tackle one more question that has to do with Benoit. Many of you have asked me for my personal opinion on what I think about many former wrestlers statements regarding all of this. I firmly believe that everyone has a right to their own opinion and they have the free will to speak it however they like. But that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. For those who say they agree with everything the WWE has done or said well that's just fine and dandy if you do. I don't. But just like you I have my own freewill. I have been getting criticized by some former wrestlers lately regarding my actions. They think I need to agree with everything the WWE says or does. But I don't..people you need to realize the WWE does not own me. I, John Cena, am a free person that has the free will to say or do what I want. The only thing they own is the WWE Championship that I carry around with pride. I have never been the type of man to deny what I believe in which leads me to the next question. But, I will not go around bashing the company I work for. I know what they have done for me and I appreciate and respect that and I will never say anything negative about any of my employers or coworkers.
