TWILIGHT director Catherine Hardwicke - who was responsible for bringing stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart together on-screen - has confirmed the two actors are dating.
In a recent interview with Time Online, she revealed she warned Robert off dating Kristen when they first met, because at her age of 17 - it was illegal.
"After I cast him, I told Rob, don't even think about having a romance with her . . . She's under 18. You will be arrested." (Today, Stewart is a legal 19 while Pattinson is 23.)
"In terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn't happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film," she explains.
But the director then added: "I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, O.K., I've got to give this a go and really try to be with this person."
Earlier this week, Pattinson, 23, and Stewart, 19, were caught holding hands after promoting The Twilight Saga: New Moon in Paris on their whirlwind world tour. The pair headed to the airport and ran on to a private jet hand-in-hand.
