Psychic charged over claims other psychics beat her up

An American psychic who claimed that she was beaten up by rival psychics apparently failed to read the future very well - as she has just been arrested over accusations she lied about the attack.

Janet Lee, who describes herself as the 'foremost psychic in New England', was arrested over the weekend by police in Greenwich, Connecticut, and charged over her claims about the attack on July 11.

Lee phoned police from hospital to say that she had been beaten up by a man outside her office. She had previously phoned the police several days before to report that she had been receiving threatening messages.

However, the investigating officer, Detective Robert A. Brown Jr., said that there were 'numerous inconsistencies with her story and her timeframe,' and added that he believes the incident didn't even take place where she said it did - but rather several miles away in Norwalk, where Lee lives.

'This, more than likely, happened in Norwalk because the evidence shows she was in Norwalk during the timeframe it had taken place,' Brown told the Greenwich Time newspaper.

Lee's attorney, Mark Sherman, said she was sticking by her story: 'She still maintains that this assault is somehow connected to a rival psychic business. We have the medical reports from Greenwich Hospital to substantiate all the claims.'

'Janet is a highly regarded psychic who specializes in predicting the future, not fabricating the past,' he added.

Lee has been charged with falsely reporting an incident, interfering with an officer and providing a false statement.
