NEW YORK (Reuters) - Dallas Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson has been fined $25,000 by the National Basketball Association (NBA) for his actions during a game against the Indiana Pacers last week.

Johnson was penalized for failing to leave the court in a timely manner and for verbal abuse of a game official, NBA executive Stu Jackson said in a statement on Monday.

The incident occurred with 8:34 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Mavericks' 111- 107 loss to the Pacers on Friday.

Johnson was ejected after picking up two technical fouls for arguing with referee Bennett Salvatore.
