Scottie Pippen, a winner of six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, and 14-times All-Star Karl Malone, were selected in the Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2010 on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss and the 1960 and 1992 gold medal US Olympic basketball teams, were also included in the class announced at the Final Four of the NCAA's collegiate basketball tournament in Indianapolis.

Pippen appeared in seven All-Star games during a 17-year career in the NBA where he won six championships playing in Chicago with Michael Jordan, who was elected to the Hall last year.

Malone, who spent all but one of his 19 seasons with the Utah Jazz, is second on the NBA's all-time scoring list. The twice league MVP led the Jazz to a pair of NBA finals but fell short of capturing the title each time.

Both Pippen and Malone won Olympic gold medals as part of the US Olympic basketball teams in 1992 and 1996.

Finalists needed 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee for election into the Springfield, Mass., hall. The class will be enshrined on August 13.

The Lakers have won nine NBA titles since Buss purchased the team in 1979. During Buss's stint as team owner, the Lakers have also recorded the most wins and the highest overall winning percentage in the NBA.
