Live from Hammerstein Ballroom, New York/USA
The show starts off with a Triple C promo in the ring. He carries his newly won Ornate Prime Championship offcourse, and talks about how grateful he is, but not really about how it went down. He apologize to WALTER, and says that if it wasn't for the fact that WALTER have a match for The EAM World Heavyeweight Championship at Grandslam, he would have given him a rematch, no doubt! But, to show everyone, WALTER included that he cherishes the fact that he is now a 2 time Ornate Prime Champion, he will give the ONE person who told him he actually deserved to hold it when he won it at Night of The Slammies, and that man would be none other than John Cena! The fans love this, and Claudio gets a big pop for being such a big man. Then music cranks the arena speakers, and it's no unknown theme song cranking the speakers...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqv5TYQTFYM . The audience pops at this as well offcourse as Cena makes his way out on the stage. He poses on the stage and who would ever have thought this some years ago? John Cena in EAM Promotions. Not even the chairman, or maybe least of all the chairman would have believed it if you said so. Cena makes his way down the rampway as Claudio waits in the ring. Cena makes it into the ring where he walks up to Claudio, and he actually apologizes into Claudio microphone that he's really sorry, but he got so excited that he forgot to bring his own. Claudio hands over the microphone to John then and Cena cut's a short promo on how awesome a experience it's been so far, to be part of this thing called EAM Promotions. He gotta admit, he was an idiot who stayed with that other company for so long, because he know understand where the real wrestling, and the real fans are. He gets a big pop from this offcourse, then he talks about how humbled he is, and how grateful he is, to even at the age is now, to be able to experience it before he officially retires. But, when things like this happens, Cena can't really imagine retirement, at least not yet. Because this journey is far from over. As a matter of fact, it's just started. And as you all probably know from before, John Cena is not the man, not to grab the opportunity when it comes at him! He turns to Claudio then, telling Claudio how impressed he is of his work, and once again, he wants to congratulate him on becoming a two time Ornate Prime Champion. And, speaking about The Ornate Prime Championship. Cena would offcourse be honored to wrestle Claudio for that title at Grandslam! WOW! The audience loves it, and Claudio smiles. This is pretty huge! I guess it's official then? Triple C will be defending his newly won Ornate Prime Championship, against none other than John Cena! We cut to the Jamboree vignette...
Awesome build up of John Cena and Claudio should be another great match and putting the title on the line makes sense it isn’t needed but adds more to it. Also putting over Walter it makes him look good.
Singles Matchup
Kota Ibushi Vs Matthew Riddle
Riddle gets the win in this match after some strong style kicks and an RKO for some reason. Ibushi gets some moves in but it’s not enough. After the match he looks disappointed and there’s really not much else for him to do and it looks like he’s not even going to be competing at Grand Slam Japan.
We go backstage, where Alicia Atout hooks up with Orange Cassidy, who's in a pretty bad mood. Alicia asks him what's bothering him, but offcourse as we all know, Cassidy almost never talk. He just shakes his head in disbelief of Alicia's stupid question and sighs...but, he actually answers her. He says he will make it simple, for her, and for everyone else out there, especially Danhausen. There is no such thing as curses. Cassidy's bad results as of late comes from other factors, but especially not some bogus hocus pocus hex or curse that some lunatic fringe thinks he put upon me! He knows for a fact that he never beat Danhausen does not have anything to do with any curse, and he is willing to prove it! He's actually willing to propose for Danhausen a third match, just to prove his point. And to do just that, he is even willing to give Danhausen the opportunity to pick the time, the place, the stipulation, anything! Three times is not a charm Danhausen. And charms are just what you need to protect yourself from your own curse!
Looks like another match but this time with a gimmick between these two men. Maybe they’ll end up as a tag team when all is said and done.
Singles Matchup
Wardlow Vs Chad Gable
Gable looks pretty good getting in his typical submission and technical moves of course it’s just not enough for Wardlow who gets the win following Wardlow’s world.
We get a promo package next, showing EAM's co-work with Japanese wrestling promotion, not just as of late, but historicly, as EAM has had quite a few PPV's in Japan over the years. 7 tio be fact, but not before now, they will be able to experience the extravagana that is Grandslam. We get some highlights of past PPV and matches in a sort of collague, then we see a clip from general manager Randy Orton, as he talks about EAM promoting themselves in Japan, and how well they are recieved over there. It will no doubt be a awesome experience to host EAM Promotions biggest show of the year from Tokyo Japan. We then get some more flashbacks, showing even some more interaction between Japanese wrestling and EAM, as we see the commotion between Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shawn Michaels, then we cut to a taped promo by Tanahashi, where he actually challenge Shawn Michaels to a match at the show of shows. Can Mr. Grandslam turn down such a challenge and opportunity? Tanahashi Vs Michaels is a dream match in many wrestling fans eyes, and it's been talked about for years. But nobody actually thought it would happen. It's all up to Shawn at this point. But Tanahashi has a point. Can he turn down something like that, knowing how the fans would react? Time will tell....
Good build to this dream match and it could be the match of the show possibly year.
We cut back to the arena and the ring then, and The Pride Tag Team Champion; Heavy Machinery are about to cut a promo. They are having the list with them tonight as well, so I guess we will finally get to know who's the number one tag team on their bucket list, and most probably, we are in a few minutes going to know who will be Heavy Machinery's opponents for Grandslam 17! And whatever happens at Grandslam, if Heavy retains or if they actually finally are defeated, both Otis and Tucker agree that this has been one hell of a journey, and they challenge any tag team in the world to try and replicate their accomplishments. And as far as they are concerned, they are not done yet! The crowd loves the sound of that offcourse. As we know, Heavy Machinery has made themselves one of the most beloved tag teams in the whole industry. From a underdog jobber tag team, to almost Legend-status in just a couple of years. No doubt, their achievements are probably impossible to duplicate. But now, the time everyone has been waiting for, Otis and Tucker promise they wont stall it any longer. And, it's probably no mystery or big surprise to the oldskool EAM fan either, which team who's on spot number one on their list. But, in case you haven't figured it out yet, the last team on Heavy Machinery's list, and the very tag team they want to defend The Pride Tag Team Championships against at Grandslam, maybe for the last time, are....... KENTA & Kenta! The audience explodes! WOW! Brian and Nigel have problem communicating with the TV audience, as the fans in attendance are so loud. This is big for sure! No doubt, two of the biggest tag teams in EAM history are gonna clash together at Grandslam!
Yeah make sense had a feeling it would be them. Makes sense as well since it’s Japan. Perfectly worked out actually since they both held the titles for so long.
Single Matchup (Non-Title)
Aaron Stevens Vs Eli Drake
Okay match at first but Stevens refuses to wrestle and leaves. They fight around the ring for some time before officials break them apart. Sorry folks and fans at home it looks like we’re not going to get this match tonight.
As we get back from commercial break we get a promo. We find ourselves in some place dark and dampy. It looks like a boiler room or something similar. On the concrete floor sits a man. He is dressed in black and red checker squared flannel shirt, and on his face he's wearing a brown leather mask. Eerie music can be heard in the background. Some kind of childrens song, played on a piano. The person on the floor talks then, talks about forlorn times. Times when thing meant something. Times when things was accomplished! And God can sign up on the fact that he's done it all. There is nothing left for him in this business to do....except for one small minor little nitpick of a thing. That thing goes around, proclaiming to the world that he is the REAL King of The Deathmatch! I got one question for you son! How can you be the king when you never ever faced me? In the immortal words of " The Nature Boy" Ric Flair; " To be the Man, you gotta beat the Man! " Foley stands up then, and picks up something from the floor as he rises. He waves a barbwired baseball bat in front of the camera then and screams; " Nick Gage! You fucking piece of shit! I'll give you one chance to put some bang in your buck and prove yourself! But you will only get this one chance I can tell you! Because if you are brave enough, or stupid enough, or both, to take me up on this. One of us will not leave that ring alive!
Gage vs Foley wasn’t expecting that. Makes sense. Not a big fan of either right now but maybe they will kill each other so it could be fun. Needs a gimmick though. Thought he was gonna fight Flair at first. Maybe a Barbwire bat on a pole match
Tag Team Matchup
Jeff Cobb & Will Hobbs Vs The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander)
Will and Jeff get the win after a pretty solid match the North look okay as well but it’s just not enough for them. Tour of the Islands for the 3. Oklahoma stampede as well from Hobbs.
We get a promotional video with a bunch of guys dressed in black cloaks. They find themselves in a gloomly lit room, all of them sitting around a circled table, with no spesific person seemongly being the leader. And that seems to be the agenda of the day. One of the members around the table explains that this has to be determined once and for all, as this puts everyone in a awkward position and does not serve as anything positive or progressive when it comes to the future. Action needs to be taken before this sillyness damages the brotherhood even further. Everyone around the table mumbles in agreement, slowly nodding their heads. But how? Someone asks. There is silence for some seconds then, before someone puts a piece of paper on the table with some writings on it, then the person says that his proposal is to determine it like it should be determined in this business. Inside the squared circle. Everyone mumbles in agreement once again, as the piece of paper goes from hand to hand around the table, as everyone examines it. When it has made it's trip around the table and is again back in the hand of the person who put out the proposal, he asks everyone around the table if it's determined then? Yet again he get mumbling agreement from the others, so he puts out his hand, holding it just above the middle of the table. All the others join him, and seals the agreement.... We then cut back to the arena for our main event of the evening...
No idea what this could be about. There’s always a lot of mystery in this company so who knows what it is.
As our main event is about to begin, we go to the gorilla position, where something is happening. There is a big argument between the current EAM Tag Team Champions; Rey Fenix & Will Ospreay, and The Young Bucks, seemingly because they are not the one competing for the titles tonight. Rey and Will try to calm things down, trying to explain that they are not the ones who book these matches, but Nick and Matt wont listen to it. They argument continues even as Rey and Will's music cranks the arena speakers, as it's their time to enter the stage for their match which is tonights main event. In the irony of destiny, those who actually manage to break up the argument and get and end to this and showing some professionalism, are not who you would expect it to be, but it's none other than Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. They go between the boys, telling them both that this is not the time or place. They can continue this later, somewhere else. As much as Nick and Matt actually disagrees with Billie and Peyton, they leave. Rey and Will's music are still cranking the arena speakers, and Brian and Nigel are starting to wondering where the champions are at this point. So are the fans in attendance. Rey and Will tell Billie and Peyton thanx, but Billie and Peyton say they can thank them later, now, they got a couple of titles to defend, and their fans are waiting for them. Fenix and Will smiles and Billie and Peyton smiles back before Rey and Will leaves for the stage. Why has The IIconics started to be so nice as of late? What could be their agenda? We cut to the arena then, as our main event, finally, soon can be under way...
Good build to the big match at Grand Slam. Should definitely be a unique and different match. Hard to build this match of course.
EAM Tag Team Titles Matchup
Rey Fenix & Will Ospreay (c) Vs Keith Lee & Donovan Dijakovic
Big match here back-and-forth action from everyone involved a lot of highflying signature in finishing moves they get close but it’s just not enough for the win Rey with a 630 and Will with an Essex destroyer for the three count.
As the show is about to end, we cut to the street's outside The Hammerstein Ballroom where we hook up with Danhausen. He's walking out of the arena with a bunch of what looks like big paper rolls under his arm. He's also carrying a bucket and a long brush of some kind. What is he up to? He puts it all down before he puts the brush into the bucket then he smears it out over the wall beside the main entrance to the Hammerstein. He then unrolls one of those big paper rolls and sticks it onto the wall. Then, going over it with some kind of tool to get out all the air bubbles it seems. After a short while he seems satisfied and picks up his stuff again as he sighs to himself, then mumbles " I'll show him a thing or two about curses. Oh yes! Very nice and very evil....very real " he leavs then, letting us finally see what he put up on the wall. It's a big vintage vaudevillain/circus-esque poster and it proclaims with big colorful letters " Come and see The Carnival of Souls! Only at Grandslam 17 in Mexico City/Mexico. Your host for the night; Danhausen..... Other than that, a some sort of rollercoaster and other amusement park stuff are depicted on the poster. But one thing or sure sticks out... There is no people in that amusement park. Except for one... On the very top of the roller coaster, in one of the carriages, sits a very pale, very afraid, and very alone Orange Cassidy.....
Pretty unique and different way to end the show I guess it makes sense if he is the host almost seems like a possible amusement park match that would be interesting to see and watch. Thought Cassidy was on top of the Hammerstein Ballroom for a second.
