    Angry AEW Dynamite Live Coverage - April 13th, 2022




    AEW Dynamite

    This week on DYNAMITE on TBS, championship week kicks off with AEW World Tag Team Champs Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus defending their titles against reDRagon. Samoa Joe takes on Minoru Suzuki. Plus, it's a 6-man tag match. And Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee settle the score!





    – We’re underway! Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary.

    CM Punk vs. Penta Oscuro (with Alex Abrahantes)

    Long staredown to start as Penta leads the crowd’s “Cero Miedo” chants.

    Punk and Penta finally trade some strikes in the middle of the ring. This leads to a lengthy exchange of chops. That leads to them trading punches. Finally, Punk misses a clothesline and Penta hits a superkick.

    Punk grabs a knuckle lock on Penta, runs up the turnbuckle, and backflips into the ring to arm drag Penta. Punk picks up Penta for the GTS, but Penta escapes. Punk is able to send Penta into the corner. Punk follows with his rising knee strike. Punk tries to pull Penta out into a clothesline but Penta reverses into a Slingblade for a 2-count.

    Punk appears hobbled so Penta attacks his knee and sends him to the outside. Penta slides out but Punk is one step ahead and already back in the ring. He surprises Penta with a Tope Suicida to the floor as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

    Back from the break, Penta is on the ring apron. Punk climbs to the top rope and Penta hits him with a kick. Penta goes up with Punk and they battle on the top rope. Both men stood on the top rope. Punk appeared to go for a super Frankensteiner but he couldn’t get it and both men fell into the ring. A little delay while the referee checked on Punk, but the match continues.

    Penta hoists Punk up onto the top rope. Punk turns the tables and puts Penta on the top rope. He climbs up and brings Penta down with a Frankensteiner from a lower altitude. Punk goes for the GTS but Penta escapes and is looking for his arm breaker. Punk escapes and locks on the Anaconda Vice. Penta gets his foot on the ropes to break the hold.

    Both men crawl out to the ring apron. They trade strikes. Penta kicks Punk in the gut and tries for a package piledriver on the ring apron. Punk escapes and a big kick sends Penta back into the ring. Punk follows with a springboard clothesline. Punk hits his rising knee strike in the corner and pulls Penta out and into the clothesline. Punk signals for the GTS. He hoists up Penta, but Penta blocks it by grabbing Punk’s knee on the way down. Penta goes for a package piledriver. Punk escapes but Penta gets him in position for his arm breaker. Punk reverses into a rollup but Penta kicks out.

    Penta goes for a springboard but Punk catches him on his shoulders and hits the GTS and that gets the pin.

    Winner: CM Punk

    – Video from earlier today shows the Jericho Appreciation Society touching down in their private jet. Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz are in a car nearby. They dump Daddy Magic and Cool Hang Ang, who are beaten up, on the runway and speed away.

    AEW Tag Team Championship Match: Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus vs. reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly)

    Christian Cage comes out on stage with the champs but heads backstage instead of following them to ringside.

    Jungle Boy and Fish start out. Jungle Boy hits a flying head-scissor and dropkick to take control. Fish goes low to take back control and tags in O’Reilly. O’Reilly grounds Jungle Boy with a headlock, but Luchasaurus tags in and pounds on O’Reilly in the corner. O’Reilly manages to tie up Luchasaurus in the ropes and sends him to the outside where Fish attacks his leg.

    Fish gets back in the ring and goes for a pin attempt. Luchasaurus kicks out.

    O’Reilly tags in for a double team and goes for a leg submission on Luchasaurus. Quick tag brings Fish back in for a double team before O’Reilly gets back in. Luchasaurus stretches away from O’Reilly and tags in Jungle Boy. He hits his comeback lariat on O’Reilly. O’Reilly escapes to the floor but Jungle Boy hits a series of dives and then Luchasaurus follows with a moonsault to the outside that takes down both members of reDRagon.

    O’Reilly and Fish are able to attack Jungle Boy’s leg to retake control as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

    Back from the break, O’Reilly has Jungle Boy in a cross armbreaker. Jungle Boy uses a pin attempt to escape. O’Reilly maintains control but Jungle Boy uses the ropes to escape and makes the tag to Luchasaurus.

    Luchasaurus cleans house on both members of reDRagon. Running dives into the corner on both men. Double clothesline puts both men down and Luchasaurus follows with a double chokeslam and a standing moonsault to O’Reilly for a near fall. O’Reilly delivers a chop block to slow Luchasaurus. reDRagon tries to double team but Jungle Boy cuts them off. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus hit s double team for a near fall on Fish.

    O’Reilly retakes control with a butterfly suplex on Jungle Boy. He gets an assist from Fish and gets a 2-count. O’Reilly goes for the cross armbreaker again. Jungle Boy gets to the ropes to break it. O’Reilly hoists Jungle Boy up to the top rope. He follows him up and grabs Jungle Boy’s arm. Luchasaurus comes in for the save and gets O’Reilly on his shoulders. O’Reilly reverses with a guillotine while Fish hits a Falcon Arrow on Jungle Boy from the top rope that flies OVER the other two men. O’Reilly and Luchasaurus trade strikes in the middle of the ring. Jungle Boy steps in but is taken down by Fish. Jungle Boy hits a swinging DDT to take down O’Reilly.

    Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy hit their Thoracic Express finisher to get the pin.

    Winner: Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus

    O’Reilly attacks Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus with a steel chair after the bell. He and Fish stumble away but here comes FTR to block their escape up the ramp.

    FTR pose with their ROH and AAA Tag Team Titles as they get in the face of reDRagon.

    – Backstage with the Blackpool Combat Club who will face the Gunn Club on Friday’s AEW Rampage. Jon Moxley says the Gunn Club is a bunch of goofs and they need less of that in AEW. Wheeler Yuta says on Friday the real work begins.

    Back from the break, Schiavone is once again with Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm. We’re told they will meet in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. Hayter says she’s gonna break Storm’s face. Storm says nothing, just smirks and walks away.

    “Captain” Shawn Dean vs. MJF (with Shawn Spears)

    We do get the Rat In The Kitchen promo during MJF’s entrance.

    Excalibur there’s security all around the arena to keep Wardlow out of the arena. MJF acts like he’s struggling to take off his jacket. Dean finally jaws at Spears and MJF attacks. His jacket wasn’t broken at all!

    MJF ships Dean upside down into the corner and poses for the crowd.

    We cut away to a group of unconscious security guards backstage.

    MJF sends Dean to the outside and whips him into a ringside barricade. MJF poses with his back to the barricade and a security guard walks up and unmasks. It’s Wardlow!

    MJF runs for it and Wardlow gives chase. Spears tries to hit Wardlow from behind with a chair but it has no effect. Wardlow goes to powerbomb Spears but security runs down. Wardlow just mows down a dozen security guards, including powerbombing one onto the ring apron. Referee Bryce Remsburg is administering the 10-count but MJF either can’t or won’t get back in the ring as Wardlow is right next to the ring. MJF gets the microphone and tries to bribe Remsburg to stop his count but it doesn’t work and MJF is counted out!

    Winner: “Captain” Shawn Dean

    MJF gets in Remsburg’s face after the match but Remsburg is having none of it. Spears gets between them.

    – Backstage, we see Wardlow still beating up security guards. He grabs a camera and screams that it’s not going to end until he’s released from his contract with MJF.

    – We get a video with Darby Allin. Allin skateboards through the streets. He tells Andrade El Idolo he’s gonna put a nail in this whole thing and challenges him to a Coffin Match.

    – Back from the break, we get a prerecorded video with Malakai Black.

    Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager vs. Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz

    Jericho and his crew enter to “Judas” and the crowd sings along. Garcia is wearing a backward Kanga hat for his entrance.

    Kingston is wearing a “Thump” t-shirt. Santana and Ortiz are bringing the stolen shoes of Matt Menard and Angelo Parker with them to the ring. Jericho and Santana start out. Santana quickly backs Jericho into the corner and rains down with punches.

    Jericho runs into a boot from Santana. Jericho tries some chops but Santana answers right back. Double leg takedown by Santana and he lands more punches as everyone else brawl on the floor. In the ring, Jericho is still taking a beating from Santana. He tags in Ortiz and they land a double team on Jericho.

    Hager takes a cheap shot from the apron on Ortiz and Jericho takes advantage and tags in Hager. Double flapjack on Ortiz and Hager goes to work on Ortiz. Ortiz goes low and attacks Hager’s knee and manages to get a sunset flip for a pin attempt. Hager powers Ortiz into his corner and Garcia tags in.

    Garcia brings in Jericho who hits a belly-to-back suplex on Ortiz and the cocky “Come on baby!” pin attempt as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

    Back from the break, Ortiz is still getting beaten up by Jericho. Ortiz charges right into a dropkick by Jericho.

    Jericho flips off Kingston to lure him into the ring. Jericho goes for the Lionsault but Ortiz moves and crawls to the corner. Jericho grabs Ortiz’ boot to slow him. Ortiz rolls through and takes down Jericho. Garcia tags in before Ortiz can make the tag but Ortiz escapes and tags in Kingston. Kingston runs wild on Hager and Garcia and tags in Santana. Santana hits the “Three Amigos” suplexes on Garcia. Santana goes to the top rope and lands a frog splash for a near fall.

    Garcia crawls into the wrong corner where Kingston is waiting. He tags in and delivers machine gun chops in the corner. Ortiz tags in and hits a leg drop from the second rope. Kingston knocks Hager off the ring apron and hits a dive to the outside that takes out Hager.

    Menard and Parker run down. Ortiz takes out both of them with a dive.

    Kingston tags in and hits an exploder suplex on Garcia. Kingston goes for the spinning back fist but Garcia pushes him off and Jericho sneaks in a shot with a baseball bat to Kingston. Garcia covers and gets the pin.

    Winner: Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager

    The Jericho Appreciation Society delivers a post-match beatdown to their opponents.

    – Alex Marvez is backstage with MJF, who is very upset. Mark Sterling says he has the right to book Wardlow against anyone he wishes. MJF says he has the “best idea”. He hands an envelope to Jose The Assistant who suddenly appears and says he’s going to send The Butcher to go after Wardlow.

    Marina Shafir vs. Skye Blue

    We get a quick look at Jade Cargill not watching the match backstage and her “Baddie Section”, which includes Kiera Hogan and Red Velvet.

    Shafir is overpowering Blue. Blue tries to fire up but Shafir grabs her and puts her down with an overhead throw.

    Cargill’s “Baddie Section” is taunting Shafir and distracts her for a moment. Blue tries to attack from behind but Shafir quickly retakes control and locks on a triangle submission for the finish.

    Winner: Marina Shafir

    The commentary team is implying that Cargill is not taking Shafir seriously.

    – Backstage, Lexy Nair is with Hook. Next week, Hook will compete on Dynamite. Tony Nese and Mark Sterling stroll into the frame. Hook gets up and they quickly leave.

    – Danhausen is behind Hook and tries to curse him. Hook casually tosses a medicine ball over his shoulder. Danhausen catches it and falls down.

    – Back from the break, we check in backstage with TNT Champion Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page, and Dan Lambert. Sky is set to defend his title against Sammy Guevara at Battle of the Belts II.

    Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland

    The crowd is hot for New Orleans’ own Ricky Starks.

    Strickland and Starks appear to be starting out, but Starks tags in Hobbs.

    Hobbs takes down Strickland with a shoulder block and tosses him into his corner with a fallaway slam. Starks tags in and works on Strickland’s arm. Starks runs up the corner and rope walks while holding Strickland’s and drops a punch on Strickland like The Undertaker.

    Strickland uses his speed to take down Starks with a dropkick and tags in Lee. Starks tries to use his speed to evade Lee but he runs out of room and gets backed into the corner. Lee tees off with a double overhand chop.

    Strickland tags back in for a moment and brings Lee back in. Hobbs charges but misses Lee and tumbles outside the ring. Strickland springboards into a moonsault off the chest of Lee to the outside onto Starks and Hobbs as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

    Back from the break, Hobbs is beating up on Strickland. Strickland escapes a slam and tags in Lee. He runs wild on Starks with shoulder tackles. Lee is hit from behind by Hobbs. He shrugs him off, leapfrogging Hobbs charging at him. Hobbs spears Starks instead. Lee throws Starks into Hobbs. Strickland tags in but Starks escapes a suplex. Strickland sends Starks to the floor and back into the ring. He pulls Hobbs down off the apron but when Strickland goes into the ring he runs into a spear from Starks. He gets a near fall on Strickland off a flipping DDT.

    Starks puts Strickland on the top rope and goes up after him. Lee made a blind tag and Strickland tosses Starks from the top rope right into the path of a charging Lee. Hobbs and Lee go face to face but referee Stephon Smith breaks it up and sends Hobbs back to his corner. Starks tries to lift Lee for the Roshambo but can’t do it.

    Taz makes his way down to ringisde.

    Lee lifts Starks into a powerbomb position but Hobbs cuts off Strickland, who was on the top rope. Starks escapes Lee for a moment but is put back on the top rope. Starks pushes off Lee and hits a spear to Lee from the second rope. Strickland breaks up the pin attempt with a splash. Hobbs comes in and Lee powers him up. Hobbs escapes. Lee goes off the ropes but Taz grabs his foot. Hobbs hits his spinebuster and pins Keith Lee to get the win.

    Winners: Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks

    – Tony Schiavone is backstage with Thunder Rosa. Nyla Rose and Vicki Guerrero interrupt her. Rose is holding a cake. Rosa sends it into Rosa’s face. They brawl for a bit until the referees break it up.

    Ring of Honor World Television Championship Match: Minoru Suzuki (c) vs. Samoa Joe

    Bobby Cruise does the ring introductions.

    Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt are sitting ringside.

    Full entrance for Suzuki, complete with “Kaze Ni Nare!”

    Suzuki and Joe staredown to start. They immediately start trading chops. Joe switches to forearms but Suzuki keeps returning fire. Suzuki pauses for a few moments to acknowledge the crowd and then goes back to trading strikes with Joe. Neither man is budging much, but Joe’s chest is turning bright red.

    Both men switch to straight forearms. The pace of striking has slowed a bit but neither man is giving much ground. Suzuki comes off the ropes and Joe is waiting with a shoulder tackle that takes him down. Suzuki rolls to the ring apron. Joe goes to get him and Suzuki traps him in an arm submission in the ropes. They both roll to the arena floor as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

    Back from the break, Joe has Suzuki in a cross-face. Suzuki gets his foot on the ropes to break the hold. Suzuki reverses a whip, takes Joe down with a snap mare, and delivers a penalty kick for a 2-count. Suzuki pulls Joe into position for a piledriver but decides better of it. He wants to trade more chops with Joe. Joe obliges and they’re back to trading in the center of the ring.

    Suzuki ducks a chop and locks in a sleeper hold. Joe powers up Suzuki and slams him down to break the hold. Joe comes off the ropes and runs into a dropkick from Suzuki. Suzuki goes back to the sleeper and positions him for the Gotch-style piledriver but can not get Joe up. Suzuki locks in the sleeper again but Joe backs him into the corner. Joe puts Suzuki on the top rope. He wants the Muscle Buster but Suzuki goes to an arm bar. Joe powers out and gets the Muscle Buster and that gets the pin.

    Winner and NEW Ring Of Honor TV Champion: Samoa Joe

    Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal quickly take the microphone and taunt Joe.

    The lights go out.

    When they come back up, Satnam Singh is in the ring. He’s a 7′ 3″ former professional basketball player from India who signed with AEW last September.

    Singh clotheslines Joe and helps Lethal and Dutt beat him up. Joe tries to fight back but Singh grabs him from behind in a head vice. The show ends with Lethal finishing off Joe with a Lethal Injection.
