Angry AEW Rampage Live Coverage - June 3rd, 2022

    AEW Rampage

This week on RAMPAGE, the long awaited rematch between The Young Bucks and The Lucha Bros. Athena makes her in-ring debut against Kiera Hogan. Plus, Dante Martin challenges Scorpio Sky for the TNT Title!

    – We're live from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California and your hosts are Excalibur, Taz, Chris Jericho, and Adam Cole! We’re not waiting, these guys are already in the ring!

    Lucha Bros vs. Young Bucks

Penta and Matt start off. Penta gives him some “Cero Miedo” taunts to start off. Matt tries to respond with an “Elite” taunt. Penta finally takes off his glove and throws it in Matt’s face.

Penta tries for Fear Factor earlier but Matt escapes. Penta takes Matt down and tries for his arm breaker but Matt escapes.

Nick and Fenix tag in. Nick runs up the ropes to arm drag Fenix. Fenix tries to powerbomb Nick off the apron but can’t do it. They dodge kicks until both get back int the ring and kick each other in the head and then pop right back up for the stalemate.

Matt blindsides Fenix to get control. Matt hits his diving dropkick through the ropes to Fenix on the floor. Nick follows with a dive. But Penta follows with his own dive to take down both Bucks. Fenix hits a Tornillo from the top rope to the floor onto all three men.

Back in the ring, Matt catches Fenix in a Sharpshooter. Fenix gets to the ropes as Penta has Nick in an arm submission in the ropes. They break the holds and spill to the floor again where Fenix hits a rolling cutter on Matt on the floor.

Fenix sends Matt back in the ring but Matt gets his knees up when Fenix tries a splash as we go to a picture-in-picture break.

Back from the break, Matt charges into a boot from Fenix. Fenix springboards right into the Locomotion Northern Lights Suplexes by Matt. Penta tries to intervene on the last one but Matt takes both men over. Matt holds up Fenix for a draping senton splash by Nick for a 2-count.

Fenix reverses a back body drop by Nick into a hurricanrana on Matt. Penta holds Matt for a draping DDT with a foot stomp assist by Fenix for a 2-count. Fenix dives out of the ring onto Nick. Fenix goes to the top and hits a frog splash on Matt for a 2-count.

Fenix lifts Matt onto the top rope but Matt pushes him off. Fenix responds with a kick and calls for Penta to lift him onto his shoulders. They go to superplex Matt but Nick hits a missile dropkick that causes Fenix to give Penta a poison rana. That gets a 2-count.

Fenix and Nick trade strikes in the middle of the ring. Fenix hits his rewind kick and Penta tags in. Penta sits on the top rope and Fenix hits a splash from Penta’s shoulders for a very close near-fall.

Fenix hits a spinning kick on the corner on Nick and tries to bring him out but Nick reveres and hits a poison rana. Matt comes in and they hit double superkicks on both Penta and Fenix. Bucks go for a BTE Trigger but Fenix ducks it. Fenix tries for a springboard crossbody but the Bucks catch him and hit the Meltzer Driver. Penta breaks up the pinning attempt.

Matt rips off Penta’s mask and then hit the BTE Trigger on Fenix to get the pin.

    Winners: The Young Bucks

    – The Bucks celebrate in the crowd as we go to a commercial break.

    – Back from the break, Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks make their entrance.

Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks vs. ???

We didn’t get the names of the opponents and Starks and Hobbs went right against them.

We get a picture-in-picture promo from Starks and Hobbs during the match. By the time we get back to the ring, the match is over.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks

    – Back to the announce desk, Excalibur recaps CM Punk’s championship win at “Double Of Nothing”. We will hear from Punk later tonight. Jericho talks about rumors flying around that Punk will address.

    – Back to the arena, Kiera Hogan makes her entrance. We get a picture-in-picture promo from Stokely Hathaway who says Hogan will send Athena to the back of the line.

Kiera Hogan (with Jade Cargill, Red Velvet & Stokely Hathaway) vs. Athena

Hogan gets the better of an early exchange with a big forearm strike. Athena responds with a springboard crossbody that sends Hogan retreating to the floor. Athena hits a sort of hesitation dive through the ropes to the floor. Velvet pulls Athena off the apron as she’s trying to get back in the ring. We go to the picture-in-picture break.

Back from the break, both women are down. Hogan misses a clothesline and Athena catches her with a running dropkick. A series of kicks sends Hogan to the corner. Athena hits her front handspring elbow strike and goes to the top rope. Velvet gets involved again and Hogan pulls Athena down. Hogan follows with a head-scissor takedown and running boot to get a 2-count.

Hogan goes for a suplex but Athena escapes and hits a big strike. Athena goes to the top rope but Hogan hits the ropes and Athena crotches herself. Hogan goes up to get her but Athena pushes her off and comes off with the O-Face and gets the pin.

    Winner: Athena

Athena invites Cargill to get into the ring but The Baddies decide to leave instead.

    – We go to pre-recorded comments from the House of Black. Malakai Black says Julia Hart’s betrayal was a carefully executed plan. Hart asks, “Isn’t this what you wanted?”

    – Back to the arena, CM Punk makes his entrance.

Excalibur speculates that Punk suffered an injury during his match on last Wednesday’s “Dynamite”. Punk is walking with a slight limp.

Punk gets in the ring and takes a microphone. He says when he got to the arena every bone in his body was telling him to go home and be with his wife and dog. But he felt everyone deserved an explanation. He says he promised he would give his all in AEW until his wheels fell off.

Punk said he has good news and bad news.

He says the last thing he wanted to do was let anyone down. He says he has loved every second he’s been in the ring. He says it’s been a gift he never thought he’d experience again. He says the bad news is that he’s injured and needs surgery. He says a couple of things are broken but the biggest thing is his heart.

The good news is that the wheels are still there but they haven’t fallen off. He says one of them is broken.

Punk addresses the AEW Championship. He says he doesn’t want to hold things up in AEW. He says he told Tony Khan he would relinquish the title but Khan feels this is just a bump in the road. Punk says the “get back” is gonna be bigger than the setback. He says he’s champion for a reason. He says he’ll be back bigger, faster, and hungrier than ever before and he’ll prove why he’s the best in the world.

It’s unclear if Punk will relinquish the title. Jericho muttered that just days after Punk won the title he’ll have to relinquish it as they went to the commercial break.

    – Back from the break, Mark Henry is chatting with Dante Martin and Scorpio Sky. Martin is feeling confident with Matt Sydal in his corner. Sky says he’ll kick Martin’s teeth down his throat.

    – Jericho reiterates that CM Punk has been forced to relinquish the AEW Championship.

TNT Championship Match: Dante Martin (with Matt Sydal) vs. Scorpio Sky (with Ethan Page & Dan Lambert)

Sky controls with strikes and a headlock early. Martin pushes him off but runs into a series of shoulder blocks. Martin hits a series of arm drags and locks on an arm bar as we go to a picture-in-picture break.

Back from the break, Sky and Martin are trading strikes in the middle of the ring. Martin dropkicks Sky out of the ring and follows with a springboard dive to the outside. Martin goes to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick to Sky for a 2-count. Martin hits a TKO for a 2-count.

Excalibur announces there will be an interim AEW Champion crowned at “Forbidden Door”. There will be a battle royal on Wednesday’s “Dynamite” where the winner will face Jon Moxley, who is the #1 contender. The winner of that match advances to the interim title match at “Forbidden Door”.

Sky hits his TKO and gets the pin on Martin. Sky is favoring his ankle after the match but is able to move around after the match and celebrate his victory.

    Winner: Scorpio Sky

Well, he was champion for a few days. lol A good promo by Punk. I guess it good he keeps the title while he has surgery and recovers with AEW having a interim champion for now.

    Thanks for LC.
