Groovy news, deadites. We finally have a release date for Lee Cronin’s entry in the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise. Now, instead of a cabin in the woods or traveling back in time, the flesh-ripping demons are rampaging an apartment building. There’s been speculation about when the film will be released and where it’ll be released. But today, Cronin answered our prayers and revealed that Evil Dead Rise is coming to theaters in April 2023.

The director, known for his previous film A Hole In The Ground took to Twitter to announce that “the countdown to carnage has begun” as the film is slated to hit theater on April 21, 2023.

Here’s the official synopsis for Evil Dead Rise:

“In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis star in Evil Dead Rise. While Bruce Campbell won’t be starring in this one, he is producing alongside Sam Raimi. Both Campbell and Raimi have revealed how excited they are about this upcoming sequel. Raimi even called the film “terrifying”.
