Things are not looking good for Will Ospreay who is expected to be out of action for longer than first thought.

Last week, it was reported that Ospreay had suffered a shoulder injury during his New Japan match with Mark Davis.

That injury forced Ospreay to withdraw from the annual New Japan Cup: a 16-man tournament where the winner earns a future IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match.

Ospreay is out of the New Japan Cup and isn't expected to wrestle for some time.

PW Insider Elite reports that Ospreay's shoulder is worse than initially believed, and he has been pulled from matches during WrestleMania week.

The 29-year-old wrestler was set to compete at both WrestleCon and New Japan's crossover event with Impact Wrestling: Multiverse United.

Ospreay will also be off of NJPW's next tour in the hopes that his condition improves over time.

The English wrestler will also be unavailable for Sakura Genesis on April 8.

Will Ospreay had been set to face 'Speedball' Mike Bailey at the Multiverse United event, and a replacement may have come forward.

Yesterday, Hiroshi Tanahashi spoke during a post-match press conference and hinted that he will be filling in for Ospreay at Multive United.

While that replacement hasn't been made official as of yet, that looks to be the direction being taken for the event to make up for Ospreay's absence.

ImpactXNJPW Multiverse United will take place on March 30, 2023, at the Globe Theater in Los Angeles, California.
