WCW icon Bill Goldberg is officially a free agent and able to work wherever he wants.

The former NFL player's time with WWE has run out and it appears unlikely to be used by the promotion again. His latest WWE run has been greeted by much controversy due to his short matches and squash win over 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship.

The WWE Hall-of-Famer's most memorable feud in recent years was arguably with Bobby Lashley. In one of the darker moments of Lashley's acclaimed 2021 WWE Championship reign, 'The All Mighty' viciously beat down both Goldberg and his son at that year's Summerslam. The former WCW Champion got his revenge in Saudi Arabia later that same year.

Despite his contract coming to an end, the 56-year-old has made clear he'd like to work one more match before retiring for good.

Wrestling journalist Raj Giri recently tweeted about Goldberg's interest in more more match. The tweet came shortly after word got out that the master of the Jackhammer has entered free agency.

In response, AEW rising star Swerve Strickland confirmed his interest in a showdown with the late '90s fan favorite.

Arriving in AEW as a babyface, Swerve Strickland has breathed new life into his persona and image since turning on Keith Lee. After a bizarre heel turn angle involving rapper Rick Ross, Strickland finished reinventing himself as a diabolical, trash-talking villain with two goons at his beck and call. Hints of the heel persona were apparent throughout his and Lee's feud with The Acclaimed last year.

The act has been a hit with fans, with many wondering why Strickland has predominantly been relegated to Rampage of late despite the interest in his new persona.

Should Goldberg show up in AEW, Strickland is probably not the first opponent many might expect. However, given his agile ringwork, he could be a perfect fit for the limited big man's offense and style these days.
