A surprising star has thrown his hat into the ring to wrestle Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39.

Brian Cage is currently one third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions, has made no bones about his interest in facing 'The All Mighty'.

Bobby Lashley was initially slated to face Bray Wyatt at this year's WrestleMania. The feud began shortly after Elimination Chamber. Prior to the event, Wyatt had promised to come after the winner of the Lashley/Lesnar grudge bout on it.

Rumors have been circulating that Lesnar was initially supposed to beat Lashley and move on to a Wyatt feud. However, this was ultimately changed to a DQ win for Lashley.

Now, however, with Bray Wyatt off TV for reasons unknown, it appears 'The All Mighty's WrestleMania plans may be up in the air. Brian Cage, who will be in Los Angeles for Supercard of Honor the night before WrestleMania Night One, has now revealed he'd like to open a brand new forbidden door and face the two-time WWE Champion at the event.

During their days in IMPACT Wrestling, Bobby Lashley and Brian Cage went to war in an acclaimed 2018 feud. Lashley, one of the leading stars of Impact at the time, put the new arrival Cage over strong before leaving for WWE. Cage came out victorious in both of their singles encounters. Their bouts famously saw 'The All Mighty' bust out a hurricanrana among other eyebrow-raising moves to try and match Cage's diverse offense.

At the time, Cage was essentially brought in to replace Lashley as the promotion's premier heavyweight warrior. Presented as an unstoppable force between the ropes, Cage used his unique blend of powerhouse moves and lucha libre to get over with the Impact faithful.

'The Machine' made reference to the feud in a follow-up tweet on the matter.

While the match-up occurring on such short notice seems unlikely for now, it could potentially happen down the road. WWE are rumored to be interested in signing Cage once his current deal with AEW/ROH is up.
