Mercedes Mone is about to be a free agent in the near future, days after it was reported that she had reached an agreement on a contract extension with Bushiroad, the parent company of NJPW/STAROM.

When Mone debuted for NJPW in January at Wrestle Kingdom to set up her IWGP Women’s Title bout with KAIRI, it was reported that she was on a short-term deal for a handful of matches.

She dropped the IWGP Women’s Title to Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM’s All Star Grand Queendom event in the co-main event. Mone’s next stop would be taking her to Long Beach, California, at NJPW Resurgence on May 21st.

Fightful Select reports Mone has no more dates left with STARDOM as of this moment, although the two sides are open to doing more business in the future. STARDOM has been happy with the deal and business she has done for them.

The two sides are open to doing business again in the future, although that “would likely require a bigger renegotiation after the business she drew there.”

Regarding the contract extension, the agreement covers the May NJPW show in the US for now. Those they spoke with in NJPW are not sure how long the deal ran but did note that they were not matches in Japan for “at least a while.”

On May 21, she will be doing a signing at Atomic Crush Events that afternoon until 3 PM local time before getting to the venue at 5 PM local time for the show. She is also slated to do more television and film projects.

Fightful’s report aligns with what Dave Meltzer reported on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio regarding her being well received backstage among the wrestlers for the transition.
