Amid the speculation regarding CM Punk's potential return to AEW, reports have emerged and there is apparently a positive development on the matter.

Punk was previously suspended from the promotion after his bold post-show comments and involvement in the alleged backstage fight that took place at AEW All Out pay-per-view last year.

Meanwhile, AEW officially announced the launch of AEW Collision, a new weekly in-ring series that will air Saturday nights on TNT from 8-10pm (Eastern). It will feature Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe, Thunder Rosa, Miro, and Andrade El Idolo, among others. However, there was no mention of CM Punk's return as previously rumored. CM Punk himself also blasted the reports about his return.

The latest update from Fightful Select indicates there have been significant developments on the potential return of the former AEW World Champion. CM Punk and AEW have reeportedly remained in contact over the last week. Sources close to Punk have revealed that "there have been productive conversations" in recent days, although the exact nature and context of these discussions remain undisclosed.

It has been further reported that "people close to Punk believe he will be at the first AEW Collision on June 17."

The outlet also reported regarding rumors that Punk was served with legal papers. It was noted that "some documents were sent to Punk to be signed over the last week."

However, it was not indicated that "they were legal threats but told they covered speaking about certain subjects, disparagement clauses, and ensuring he appears at scheduled television dates, largely to protect AEW in several situations."

AEW Collision premiere is expected to be held at Chicago's famous United Center, where Punk made his return to pro wrestling in 2021. However, it was also noted that AEW had a backup plan in place if the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion wouldn't return to the show. The outlet reported that as of last week, Daily’s Place was not discussed as a backup location. Perhaps there were places besides the United Center that were being discussed.

We will now have to wait and see if CM Punk graces AEW Collision premiere on June 17.
