Seth Rollins will challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship tomorrow night, but the Architect nearly had a title run earlier this year.

At WWE Night of Champions, Rollins will compete against AJ Styles in one of three main events of the show. The new World Heavyweight Championship has been introduced as an answer to Roman Reigns' limited schedule as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The Tribal Chief will not be putting his title on the line in Jeddah, but will instead team with Solo Sikoa to challenge Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

Plans for two World Championships were first discussed shortly after Roman Reigns unified the WWE and Universal Championships at WrestleMania 38. According to Fightful Select, there was an idea for Seth Rollins to be a World Champion heading into this year's WrestleMania 39. WWE ultimately decided against splitting Reigns' title belts, leading to the match this weekend against Styles.

Rollins is the betting favorite to be leaving Jeddah as the new World Heavyweight Champion, despite his career outside of WWE growing bigger. The Monday Night Raw Superstar was recently seen filming scenes for Captain America: New World Order, which is slated for a 2024 release. It was rumored that Rollins' movie role, and the potential for more, had left some in WWE hesitant about making him the World Heavyweight Champion. Those reports were quickly refuted, with one source in WWE saying the company sees Rollins' Marvel role as nothing but a positive.
