The rising superstar Tiffany Stratton has reached the top of the women's division by capturing the NXT Women's Championship at last night's NXT Battleground event.

The NXT Women's Championship was vacated earlier this month, after then the champ Indi Hartwell got injured and drafted to Raw.

Tiffany Stratton's victory at Battleground culminated the eight-woman tournament. On the road to winning the gold, Stratton defeated Gigi Dolin in the first-round match with and then defeated former NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez in the semi-finals during last week's episode of NXT.

Meanwhile, her final opponent Lyra Valkyria defeated Kiana James in the first round before defeating Cora Jade in the semi-finals last week to advance.

The back and forth match between Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria went on for over 16 minutes. The closing moments of the match saw Stratton his her with the rolling fireman's carry into the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to win.



Following her massive win, WWE NXT’s official Twitter account uploaded a video where Tiffany Stratton and Shawn Michaels shared a moment. As revealed by the video, Stratton could be seen thanking The Heartbreak Kid for the win.



It is to be seen which stars comes forward to challenge Tifanny Stratton. NXT is also set to host their next Premium Live Event, NXT Great American Bash in Cedar Park, Texas on Sunday, July 30 where Stratton is likely to defend her title. NXT Battleground also revealed that the mysterious female attacker would be revealed during this Tuesday's edition of WWE NXT. All eyes will be on this week's edition of the show.
