The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament will once again have international representation this year as NJPW star Shingo Takagi has announced his entry into the tournament.
The June 12 episode of Dynamite featured a video package featuring a highlight reel for the current NJPW Never Openweight Champion.
Takagi introduced himself as 'Rampage Dragon' in the vignette. He brought up the Owen tournament and declared his entry saying that he is ready.
Though the NJPW champion wasn't the only name who declared for the tournament during the show and 'The Bastard' Pac also announced his intentions to re-establish himself by winning the whole thing:
Shingo Takagi will become the third NJPW star to enter The Owen after Tomohiro Ishii who took part in the Inaugural tournament and Satoshi Kojima who competed in it last year.
The tournament that AEW runs in partnership with The Owen Hart Foundation was first introduced in September 2021 with the Inaugural edition taking place in the first half of 2022.
The finals for both the men's and women's versions of the tournament took place at Double or Nothing 2022 in May which were won by Adam Cole and Britt Baker respectively.
A starting date for this year's tournament has not been announced but the finals are set to take place from the Calgary Saddledome on July 10.
Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale & Mariah May have all previously announced their entry for the women's tournament while Bryan Danielson has been confirmed for the men's side.
2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic death of the former WWE star and the formation of the foundation. The winners of this year's tournament will win a shot at their respective world titles at the upcoming All In London PPV from the Wembley Stadium on Aug. 25.
