The Young Bucks’ recent loss of their AEW World Tag Team Championship to Private Party was more than just a dramatic conclusion to their third title reign—it was a planned move to write them off television.

Nicolas and Matthew Jackson’s final match was a ‘match-of-the-year’ contender that showcased some of the best tag team wrestling you’ll find anywhere. After the bout, their villainous tenancies were set aside. They handled the loss with class by presenting the new champions with their titles and offering warm congratulations.

According to PWInsider, the Bucks will be off television for an extended period, allowing other tag teams to take center stage amid Jon Moley’s ongoing campaign of chaos in AEW. Although their absence will be significant hit to AEW programming, they remain under long term contracts and will be back eventually.

For now, a new era begins for Private Party and the wide-open AEW tag team division the division. Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen were congratulated by another AEW executive, Tony Khan, backstage after their victory.

On Thursday morning, after having a few hours to reflect on the biggest moment of their careers, Kassidy posted a photo of his new hardware and wrote, “5 years in the making… We finally did it.”
